Here’s my story! It’s a Rory/Paris arranged marriage AU. But not as AU as it could be... from Rory’s perspective everything is basically going as in canon until, at one point during her time at Yale, Richard tells her that he and Emily have arranged for her to marry Paris. Freak-outs ensue.

i tend to be pretty long-winded with my Dear Gifter letters, but please know that all of these are intended as suggestions or as jumping-off points for you to brainstorm ideas, if that sort of thing helps you. i’d say the only thing you “have” to read are my general dislikes, i.e. things i definitely do not want to see in a fic.

likes

i really love fics that focus closely on characters, the relationships they have with each other, and the dynamics of those relationships. e.g.s: character study, a scene showcasing something about their backstory that we don’t see in canon, overcoming an obstacle, learning something important about themself, slow burn/relationship development, fluff and domesticity, complicated dysfunctional relationships, unconventional relationship setups (qpps, polyamory, what’s a kiss or a hookup between friends?, rivals with benefits, the characters involved not being sure what their feelings are for each other or not feeling any need to clarify) — i could go on. looking at characters and how they fit together is probably one of my favorite things in fanwork tbh.

i’m mostly interested in canon compliant fics for this exchange!

i am also very much on board with trans girl characters or fem-aligned nonbinary characters.

~ Request 1: Fire Emblem: Fates ~ 

Charlotte/Nyx - their supports are A+; i like the contrast of Charlotte pretending to be a certain way in order to get what she wants and then feeling trapped by the pretense, while Nyx is Literally Trapped bc of her curse but being herself around other people and not caring what they think of her - i love the idea of them banding together after canon ends to travel the world and try n achieve their respective goals (Charlotte: getting all the $, Nyx: finding a way to break her curse) - Nyx being a Knowledgable Older Woman while Charlotte is pretty worldly and feels like she’s seen/experienced a lot, but that’s really nothing compared to Nyx - i really, really like the idea of Nyx’s ~big dark secret~ being that she’s actually a monster girl or can transform into a monster rather than simply being an ancient crone trapped in a young woman’s body… i’m partial to nagas and other reptilian monsters - (nsfw) Nyx topping Charlotte w/D/s undertones, tail sex, weird xeno sex with Nyx in monster form 

Mitama/Rhajat - GOD, i love my weird trouble girls. their supports are so great, i love how they’re both odd in different ways and kind of alienate other people, i love that they end on this BFF/”us against the world” note - anything extrapolating off of them teaching each other stuff, maybe Mitama even teaching Rhajat about poetry and Rhajat teaching Mitama about summoning the undead - anything focusing on (their different brands of) magic, i love magic - future fic showing them living their lives together, traveling the world together - all of the above sounds like it could easily be platonic but i definitely don’t want it platonic. i want them to kiss and to be so very Overwhelmed by gay feelings (especially Rhajat) - expressing love and affection in ways that look fucking strange to outsiders. Rhajat being her creepy self (like when she has feelings for MyUnit in-game) but Mitama finding that so utterly charming

since i love the canon and the world so much, i’d much prefer something taking place in Vesuvia rather than an AU. deleted scenes, flashbacks, or alternate timelines all work

i also love all the toppy stuff Nadia does in her paid scenes so if you wanted to incorporate any of that i’d be sooo happy

feel free to write your own apprentice if you’d like (provided they fit with the rules of the exchange, of course). if you want suggestions for what i might want apprentice to be like, instead:

- a sweet yet kinda ditzy and easily embarrassed (tho not a wilting violet) type could be a nice contrast to Nadia and Nahara’s stateliness and Portia’s playfulness  - i find it particularly fun when proud, confident characters who are aware of just how beautiful and desirable they are, get real gay and flustered over someone else - i always enjoy seeing characters who are POC, gender non-conforming, and/or fat.

Apprentice/Nadia - anything involving Apprentice being a gay submissive mess honestly  - with Nadia, i’m particularly fond of Apprentice having some sort of noble or important background and feeling almost like she has to one-up Nadia somehow at first, but succumbing to the gay p damn quickly 

Apprentice/Nahara - AU where Apprentice somehow meets Nahara pre-canon? maybe even in Prakra? or post-canon adventuring together? - spending time together at Vesuvia’s palace, dancing, riding, etc 

Portia/Nadia - a scene with Portia reading to Nadia while she was still asleep, or pre-canon scenes where Portia grows to care about Nadia even while she’s still sleeping, through learning about her from other sources (her sisters, the castle, maybe even Nadia’s belongings that she happens to see while going about her chores, etc) - how them getting together would work in other routes where Apprentice romances someone else - cute dates and/or soft quiet moments together. in the gardens, at Portia’s cottage, in the baths, etc.

~ Request 3: Original Work ~

there are some general Moods underlying why i requested the ships i did, so i’ll talk about those instead of splitting this request up by ship, since these ideas could apply to several ships in the list tbh

monsters, aliens, xeno: a number of requested ships are human/non-human — don’t feel like the non-human characters have to be humanoid or conventionally attractive. in fact i’d love it if you accentuated just now not-human they are... and how fascinated/attracted the human character is by that. (it can go the other way, as well, with the non-human character being fascinated by how different the human character looks.) misunderstandings due to culture and/or biology and learning to understand how the other works. 

robots, cyborgs, ships: i really like maintenance and the vulnerability, intimacy and trust that comes from that. (i can’t do typical gore, but i love seeing robots/cyborgs breaking and/or getting fixed.) i really like exploring attraction in characters that don’t have a human/organic body. when it comes to ships, i like thinking about how the relationship between the human and ship would work when, though sentient, a living ship is so different from being human, doesn’t have a body you can hug and touch, has capabilities that obviously a human doesn’t at all. space exploration is always good too. 

mind control, mind melding, possession, general mind fuckery: body-sharing and soulbonds are also great. there are some obvious ones this could apply to (Human/Siren, Librarian/Library Ghost) but not-so-obvious ones it could work with, too. (AI/Cyborg, Pilot/Her Ship for mind-meld stuff; Human/Mage, Normie Human/Human with Superpowers — maybe the human with powers is a psychic or telepath?) 

when it comes to mind melding or other telepathic links, i love the intimacy that comes from that, but it could also be a bit uncomfortable or embarrassing. maybe it could also involve information-sharing and getting to know each other instead of intimate deep relationships, e.g. the ghost shares memories with the human so the human can know more about her.

i did mention i don’t want noncon, but mind control is probably the one exception. even so, i don’t really want “mind controller straight-up forces other person to do their will and thinks it’s all fine and dandy”. i’d much rather prefer something muddier, like: mind controller using the power out of perceived necessity, maybe the normie human is trying to catch her for some reason or maybe it’s for self defense; mind controller having become accustomed to using her power for basic survival, telling herself she won’t use it for anything truly “bad”, but that line becomes kinda blurry when you’ve been used to having this ability for most of your life; mind controller controlling human due perceived necessity/threat and normie human trusting that she’ll release her. 

for the siren, it could also be more about the human being attracted to her anyways and the siren’s song just ramping that existing attraction up to 11, or about the human not being sure what parts of the attraction come from her own brain and which come from the song. being attracted but confused/conflicted about it. 

it could also be consensual! maybe the normie human requests that mind controller control her because she’s into it, or because the mind control overrides the normie human’s own fears/limitations and allows her to do things she never dreamed of before. maybe this involves a malfunctioning cyborg and the AI character takes over in order for those processes to work properly. maybe mind controller has become accustomed to shutting her power away all her life bc she thinks it’s “bad”, but it’s still a part of her, so when she finds a partner who’s fine with it being used on her, actually letting herself use her power feels amazing.

danger and feeling drained: a lot of the ships could involve some element of danger or fear (Summoner/Demon, Succubus/Victim, Human/Naga, Vampire/Human...), but while the human is scared i also like the idea of her being kinda thrilled by it. for ships like Succubus/Victim, Vampire/Human, maybe even Summoner/Demon, that could involve some kinda energy transfer, i like the idea of the human feeling drained and kinda dopey and sleepy afterwards but... it actually feels sort of nice and dreamy and comforting.

magical powers: mind stuff aside, there are also so many possibilities for what sort of magic or powers the mages or superhuman characters could have. 

rivals (or frenemies) to lovers and other unlikely relationships: this could come in a lot of different flavors. rivals/frenemies to lovers, or rivals/frenemies who are also already established lovers, is really fun (Brawny Knight Rival and Nerdy Mage Rival trying to one-up each other with physical prowess or magical talent alternatively, but this competition ends up creating romantic/sexual tension; maybe the normie human in Normie Human/Human with Superpowers is a cop, spy, or even villain who wants to keep up with/keep one step ahead of the superhuman despite not having any powers)

“i was supposed to kill/fight you but i sort of like you now instead” (any monster/human ship tbh)

“we work together and trust each other very much but also bicker a lot” (a dragon rider human who rides the dragon shifter character when she’s transformed into a dragon; a superhuman and their very competent human sidekick/hacker/equipment specialist; AI/Cyborg who are partners but also rivals)

“everyone said this would be bad/dangerous but with you it works weirdly well” (summoner who does a risky spell that everyone cautions her against and summons a scary, powerful demon who she somehow gets under her thumb??; a ghost that possesses a medium but it turns out just being helpful, etc) 

“we aren’t supposed to like each other romantically or maybe it would be better if we didn’t...” (Pilot/Ship who work together so well bc of their very close bond... but the bond is way deeper than most pilots have with their ships; Pilot/Ship worrying about each other because they’re engaging in pretty dangerous exploring/fighting/other missions, maybe it would be better for them both if they didn’t care about each other so much, but they also wouldn’t have it any other way; human/robot having feelings for each other when the robot’s (or human’s) role is just to fight/do some other thing; cyborg/mechanic or alien/scientist whose relationship ends up going beyond what it was “supposed” to be, i.e. that of mechanic/their subject or scientist/their subject) (i’d prefer these not involve any “we shouldn’t be together because homophobia”, though, but for other reasons)

unlikely duos, or characters with lots of contrast between their personalities.
