Interested to read about other girls/young women engaging in “femininity math” (does the phrasing suggest that among English native speakers, it’s more an American phenomenon than say a UK one? hmm), because my response after cutting my hair short as a girl was the opposite. I thought that skirts/dresses and feminine tops didn’t ‘go with’ my short hair (cut short or buzzed) and therefore cutting my hair short actually encouraged a practical/’unisex’ style.
