Félix liked to take his breaks outside as much as the weather allowed, which was hard in the winter but hey, he still gave it a good go! He was pretty used to rain, whether the sky was overcast or not, so he didn’t mind sitting out in it. Today, though, the sky was clear blue, the kind of brightness that he had learned since moving to England was only accompanied by biting cold and the brightest sun you’d ever seen in your life, bright enough to blind you when it bounced off the wet pavement.
It seemed like a very good day to go out and enjoy his break and try out the new hobby he had picked up! He had gotten tangled in the ball of yarn in his tote bag about 7 times now but he was pretty sure he was gonna pick up this crochet thing and have himself a new scarf in no time!
He was looking for a good spot, a nice bench with the sun at his back when he spotted something not too far away. Something surprising but not at all unfamiliar - a young boy, no relation of his but with a little storm gathering around him, the air a little darker, a little denser, just like when Pepa was starting to feel frustrated or angry. It was the start of something - which meant he had the opportunity to help, potentially, before a full-blown storm erupted and clouded over the clear sky.
He parked himself at the opposite end of the bench to the kid, and reached into his bag for his ball of yarn. It took him a second to find the hook, and then he accidentally pulled out 7 stitches as he tried to find the loop to carry on his work, but that was fine. He gave a very put-upon sigh, over the top and louder than any normal person would sigh, and then he looked at the kid, head tilting as he asked, “I don’t suppose you know anything about crochet? I’m trying to make a scarf but I think it’s more of a necktie.”
