omfg as soon as i spot a German term of endearment being used in a fic i HAVE TO stop because it unfortunately cringes me out so bad. Not because it’s wrongly translated or something but let me tell you NO ONE uses “Liebling” or “Schatz” other than someone’s parents or teenage couples who are joking and mocking the names. Schatz nowadays isnt even used as a term of endearment it’s like this mocking kind of thing whete youre belittling someone like “sweetie, are you hurt?” like in a condescending mocking way 😭😭😭😭😭 you’d actually be more surprised that most couples call each other baby and stuff like that or wait something thats gained popularity recently is “macker” but thats more like slang LOL not really a term of endearment either tbh. Okay anyway sorry for the long rant but oh my days, like i said, feel free to use German terms of endearments but personally theyre just not for me because im aware that no one uses them but hey im not gonna be the one that shatters someone’s illusion….🧘♀️
