Getting Caught Being Soft

Kageyama:

Kageyama is usually VERY aware of his surroundings and it’s v helpful when he’s in games but when he sees you it just all goes away

Suddenly he can’t focus on anything else around him but you 

It sounds sweet as hell (which it is) BUT SOMETIMES IT ENDS UP BADLY LOLOL

Usually right after you two arrive at school you go to meet him somewhere and just say your good mornings but today he was kind of late which is why you had to meet him right outside the gym doors before he was about to go to morning practice

He sees you and he’s just so happy he’s all like ‘hiiiii’ with his soft voice already activated

Gives you this giant hug and he doesn’t pull back LOLOL

Starts talking about how much he missed you in his ‘baby voice’ and he doesn’t hear the gym doors sliding open behind him

You’re like poking Kageyama’s shoulder because you see his entire team staring at y’all and you’re like ‘Tobio you have to get going, for real this time’

HES SO OBLIVIOUS AND HE’S JUST LIKE ‘but I don’t wanna leave >:(((’

AND THEN EVERYONE STARTS TO BURST OUT LAUGHING

The team was going to leave to take a jog around the school but they were met with softie Kageyama instead adshkfj

Kenma:

The least bothered out of the three

OR SHOULD I SAY -- the one that hides his embarrassment the best

I’m just imagining like after practice poor dude has the responsibility of locking up the supply closet

He’s like putting away the brooms tired as hell but then you peep your head in and you’re like hii let’s walk home :))

He’s like okay okay let me finish organizing some things first tho

So you stand in there waiting for him and you two start talking

He tells you about how he’s had a tiring day and he’s just talking about how he needed your cuddles so bad, how he missed you a lot -- everything in his ‘boyfriend voice’ and you’re just patiently listening to him

Not long after he’s done and he’s like aight let’s go I gotta lock this door

You two leave the supply closet and right on your left THE ENTIRE TEAM IS THERE AKJSHDKJDH

Kuroo’s like ‘the changeroom doors were locked and Kenma has the lock for that too .........’

There’s some scattered snickers in the crowd of the team 

Kenma just goes ‘tsk’ and shoves the keys into Kuroos hands and pulls you out of the gym to go home

THAT DAY KENMA LEFT HIS STUFF IN THE CHANGE ROOMS BECAUSE HE DIDNT HAvE THE FACE TO GO BACK AKSJDHDKJF

Kyoutani:

Kyoutani would NOT tolerate any teasing he gets for showing affection to his s/o

You come to his practice suddenly one day because you’re just having the worst day ever and you just needed to see him

You didn’t even need to talk to him, just seeing his play was enough to cheer your mood up a little

And so you enter the gym and Kyoutani sees you -- you usually visit him when he practices so he’s not suprised by your presence

But he sees a frown on your face as you sit down on the side and his mind goes NOPE PRACTICE IS DONE FOR ME FOR THE DAY MY S/O NEEDS ME

Jogs over to you and he’s all like hey are you alright

You’re like yeah I just had a really bad day but I’m okay you can go back to practice

And he’s just like no >:(( Not if you’re not doing okay I’m not going back to practice

You try to explain to him what made your day back in as few words as possible so you don’t take up too much of his time and he just sits down beside you and pulls you into a side hug

Starts reassuring you of everything and telling you it’s gonna be okay :((

His team was there the entire time and they were kind of confused as to what they should do because Kyoutani was being so outwardly soft

They just kind of nod amongst themselves and decide to not say anything to you two bc you really did look out of it when you entered the gym 

But dw !!! Everything turned out good because Kyoutani knows exactly how to make you feel better :)

Kenma:

Kenma would turn into your babysitter whenever you want to play in the rain

He’s very very big on self care !! He completely understands the concept of doing something that may seem fun at first but can actually cause huge consequences in the future

And he can’t really say no to you when you tell him you’re going to play in the rain (he just can’t say no to you !! It’s one of his biggest weaknesses)

So instead of stopping you, he basically monitors you

Brings an umbrella that you end up throwing on the side, brings and extra coat in case the one you’re wearing gets wet, hand warmers, he’s got his heater on at home already for when you two go back

He’s lowkey timing how long you two spend outside because he’s seen you get sick before after playing in the rain and he hates having to watch you go through that

But sadly this time you get sick again :((( And he pulls out his huge fluffy blankets from his closet for you to wrap yourself in while you recover :((

Baby treats you so delicately and doesn’t let you move a muscle when you’re sick

Also makes a mental note to himself to maybe not let you spend that long outside in the rain next time

Sakusa:

He doesn’t get it, he straight up doesn’t understand why you like playing in the rain so much

It’s so muddy and cold and moist -- he’s just not a big fan of it

But you love it so he compromises and accompanies you when you go out to play in the rain

Partially because he likes spending time with you but also because he has to make sure you ‘re careful and you don’t slip or something

Of course, you get sick again, and he internally smacks himself on the head because he KNEW this was going to happen, but he let you stay that long out in the rain anyways

Acts annoyed the entire time he takes care of you because ‘he told you so’

But we all know he still adores you 

This man doesn’t buy you medicine, he MAKES medicine

He makes you these drinks and bite-sized snacks that don’t even seem like medicine but somehow they work so well and your cold is gone in less than 3 days

He only makes them for u tho babes because you’re special

Tells himself next time to not. let. you. play. in. the. rain.

P.S. he gives in next time and you end up playing in the rain. You may or may not have gotten sick again. 

S/o with a Cold Demeanour

Kageyama:

I don’t think Kageyama notices this at first sdhfjkshdf

He kind of also has a resting cold face (emphasis on the kind of), so he’s somewhat used to people being intimidated by him from just looking at him

But he’s never really been able to realize it himself (if that makes sense)

Then he meets you and you tell him about how people think you look cold/stone faced and he’s like WAIT .... WAIT ME TOO 

This kid is discovering things I swear

ANYWAYS he like how only he gets to see your soft side

Loves to feel special <33 and he can be a bit possessive about it whoops

Like NO ONE else gets to see ur soft side >:(( only him because no one else needs to see it anyways it doesn’t concern them

Kenma:

Kenma thinks it’s cool as hell

His entire life he’s been seen as someone that’s ‘weak’ and having an s/o who seems the opposite is so interesting to him

Whether you’re aware of your really cold vibe or not, Kenma might use it to y’alls advantage asdkkkfj

Someone’s talking to him and he wants the convo to end? He’s calling you over so that other person will get intimidated and leave

But he loves the soft side of you just as much !! 

Someone who sits in his lap while he games aweeakefj

I think Kenma’s also a reasonably affectionate person when it comes to the right people so when you let your soft side out he’s like ‘ITS TIME ITS TIME ITS TIME’ and he goes into soft mode as well

You two just match energies constantly what can I say

Oikawa:

YOU’D REMIND OIKAWA OF IWAIZUMI ASJKHDJAK

Except Iwaizumi doesn’t show his soft side to Oikawa as often as you

He’s basically used to dealing with someone who seems cold, but you’re his s/o so you special special babes

Hopefully you’re nicer to Oikawa than Iwaizumi is tho ahah

So I think Oikawa would be a sucker for your soft side

He’d say that he ‘missed it’ (it being your soft side) and he might joke and say you need to be less intimidating around others 

He says that but really he wants the opposite bc he wants to hog all ur softie times

ALSO he likes how no one bothers you two when he’s with you because we know Oikawa -- he’s got fangirls and stuff

But he gets tired of them sometimes !! Everyone wants their privacy once in a while, and he loves to be able to avoid others when he’s with you PLUS he gets to spend uninterrupted time with his s/o so it’s a win-win situation all around

streaming and cuddling w/ Kenma:

Kenma will ALWAYS ALWAYS ask if you want to hang out with him while he streams

Before he met you he honestly thought that he’d rather be alone while streaming but then one day you hung out with him and you asked if you can watch him stream and he was kind of confused but he was like uhh sure

So now he lowkey can’t enjoy streaming without you

Alright let me set the scene: just another casual afternoon hanging out with Kenma and watching him stream

It’s been just a very lazy day and you’re getting kind of sleepy because of how cozy the current set up was with your head on his lap

You start to drift off and Kenma notices

He could have just let you sleep in that position while he finishes the second half of his stream but he knows your neck is going to be sore as hell when you wake up

So he decided to end the stream early

Carries you to bed and then just cuddles you as you really fall asleep this time

He doesn’t fall asleep right away after you

Kinda just lies there and admires you for a little bit

Eventually he falls asleep too though because seeing you so at peace makes him relaxed 

Cuddling with Kenma:

He doesn’t really have a preference when it comes to being big spoon or little spoon

Whatever mood you’re in that day works for him to be honest

I think he’s one to prefer cuddling while lying down (compared to sitting)

Just thinks it’s more comfortable, considering he already sits a lot while gaming

He also really enjoys the silence when he’s cuddling with you 

The world’s just always loud and in his face, so it’s nice to relax with his favourite person in silence

Speaks VERY VERY softly to you if you two do end up talking though

It’s almost like whispering/mumbling but you’re close enough to be able to make up what he’s saying

Would be the type to gently caress your back

He just thinks it’s a good way to calm you down/ease the tension in your body because he finds it very effective when you do it to him

He tries his best to not talk about himself a lot because he wants to hear more about your day and how you’re feeling

A GREAT LISTENER but we already knew that

He just really likes how your presence never fails to bring him back to reality and allow him to live in the moment :)) 

Kenma comfort fluff:

I think it’s basically canon that Kenma has experienced bad self care before when he would cut sleep just to play video games

But after Kuroo + his parents helped him understand how nothing is more important than one’s mental/physical health, he’s really begun to learn to treat himself 

So when he sees you stressed out and frustrated, he would literally drop everything he’s doing so he can be there for you

It really depends on your mood and what you want to do to calm down

If you just want some space and silence to calm your thoughts he’ll be waiting in the other room until you want his presence around you again

If you want him to help calm you down he’ll be more than happy to

Cuddling sessions are a big yes for him (it helps both of you)

If you would let him he’d love to play with your hair and just admire it

Kenma’s not really into all that sappy stuff but for you it can all be excused

Will praise you on how well you’re doing, how hard you’ve been working

Repeats how much he loves you like it’s a mantra

He’ll probably force you to take a nap before going back to work because there is no way he’s going to let you take a unfulfilling 10 mins break and then go back to being stressed 

If you don’t want to nap maybe a gaming session with him?

Perhaps going out to take a walk around the neighborhood? 

Go get some food? Go watch a movie? 

Really whatever you want to do he’ll be down for it, as long as it’ll help make you feel better

But no matter what you two do after you’ve cleared your mind he is sure to give you a serious talk on taking care of yourself

He’s going to be very cautious of his wording so it doesn’t sound like a lecture but the gist of it is simply that you must always prioritize your wellbeing over everything and that he’ll always be there for you no matter what

Kenma’s been through his own fair share of bad days, which is why he wants to help you through yours <3

aone -- forgot the box of chocolates on the train. baby went to school early because he wanted to set everything up on your desk so you’ll see it first thing in the morning but he got too excited that when he arrived at his stop he dashed out the train and forgot your gifts on the seat beside him :( made it up for you by bringing you to the store after school though, he let you pick out whichever ones you wanted 

tendou -- tried to make you some home-made chocolates and he wanted to make it extra special so he tried this new recipe for the very first time. literally nothing worked out and the chocolates tasted so bad in the end but you were still thankful for the good intentions behind it :)

osamu -- ate the sweets that were meant for you. when he went out to go buy them for valentine’s day he bought some extra snacks for himself to indulge in but as he was writing you a card he realized that he was eating the food meant for you. Had to go back to the store and ran the entire way there to buy them right before closing time. 

iwaizumi -- gripped the gift too hard adhfjhdf he was nervous !! had a card in one hand and some gifts in the other. he was so nervous he didn’t realize that the poor card was crumbling in his hand. when he gave it to you it was already in a ball of paper and you could not have been more confused

kenma -- prepared some kind of suprise digitally because he thoguht you’d like it, and you totally would have !! if only the file didn’t crash the night before valentine’s day :( it’s fine though, he still had some chocolates prepared for you 

daichi -- HIS MOM FOUND THE CHOCOLATES AND THOUGHT IT WAS FOR HER SO SHE ATE IT SKJDHHD Daichi bought the chocolates like MONTHS before it was even vday, he just couldn’t wait !! but he forgot to tell his mom who those were for so she thought daichi bought it for himself and ‘borrowed’ some from him :))

The moonlight shown down onto the city, illuminating the landscape of your hometown. The quietness of the night filled with nothing other than chirping from crickets, warm breeze dancing through the fields of grass, everyone was sound asleep and getting recharged for the next day.

Except for you, that is. 

Springtime meant exam time, the most dreadful week in the school year. 

Reading the same paragraph for the fourth time because you couldn’t pay attention the first three times, a gentle yawn escapes from the back of your throat. As you check the time on your phone that displays 4:39 a.m., you contemplate on maybe calling it a night. On one hand, you still had about three more days till your first exam, but on the other, you were terribly behind in the curriculum after spending countless nights procrastinating. 

You couldn't give up now, you still had quite a few chapters to go before you’re all caught up. Ignoring the headache that was slowly creeping up, you force yourself to continue studying. 

As the morning alarm on your phone goes off, you jump at the intruding sound and the realization that you didn’t get any sleep that night. Rubbing your dry eyes and tapping the snooze button, you hesitantly make your way out of your room to start your morning routine and head off to school. 

The next two nights were spent the same way as this one. Purely studying without breaks, not giving yourself even a moment to sit back and get some rest. The harsh hours of the night began taking a toll on your body. 

Just like the last two mornings, the alarm on your phone went off. Today was the day of your exam, but unlike the last two mornings, you were not awake to turn off the alarm. Blanket thrown over your torso, you continue to snooze your way through the morning alarm, eventually missing the exam. 

Of course this was unintentional, your body had been through it all these past three days. Eyes constantly shifting over pages and pages of text, arms sore from the amount of notetaking you’ve done, you were able to successfully catch up in class but forgot to tend to your own needs. 

Around the early evening of your supposed-to-be-exam day, you’re finally awoken from your slumber by a soft hand shaking your shoulder. 

“Y/N,” Kenma whispered, “Y/N wake up.”

Throwing the covers over your head while still half asleep, you mumble a weak, “Kenma, what are you doing here.”

You hear Kenma shift his body and sit on the edge of the bed. 

“Is this where you were the entire day?” He asks as he pokes the material over your head. 

“What do you mean all day? I was just taking a little nap. I have my exam today.”

Kenma sighs, “you missed the exam.”

Your eyes widen at his words. Immediately jumping out from under the covers, you grab our phone to check the time and date. 

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” you curse to yourself after realizing that you really did just sleep through your entire exam. “It was just supposed to be a short nap, I was just so exhausted from these past few days. I really thought I would’ve been able to wake up on time.”

“Y/N,” his voice directs your attention to his face, “I told you to take care of yourself.”

Kenma was no stranger to pulling all nighters. It had become a routine when he was younger, and even after his parents forced him to go to sleep at a reasonable time, he simply woke up in the middle of the night to resume playing his video games. 

But that was the old Kenma, the one who didn’t understand the importance of self care. The new version was someone who learned to organize his time and learned to prioritize his health before anything else.

“I know, I know. I’m sorry.” Truthfully, you didn’t know if you were apologizing to the volleyball player or yourself. 

“Apologizing isn’t going to do anything,” he responds in a monotone voice.

“I know!” You say in an annoyed tone, burying your face into your pillow, “what am I going to do? Do you think they’ll let me reschedule?”

With a shrug, Kozume explains, "I already covered for you. Told them you had a family emergency.”

The gesture from your friend made your face light up. “Really? Thank you so much! I promise I won’t sleep through the next one!”

Kenma laughs at your enthusiasm, “we’ll see about that.”
