i've seen a lot of posts from transfems on here about how much they hate femboys as a concept since it frequently feels like an excuse to misgender trans women, which itself is fair enough, but my own personal take is that as long as it's a voluntary self identification and not a term forced upon someone then femboys are cool & good. like, i saw somebody say that they feel like femboys are a grotesque parody of trans women and it kinda irks me to see a trans lady using that kind of terminology about somebody else's gender identity since it's literally what transphobes say about trans women??? like, there's nothing wrong with femboys, crossdressers etc. again, calling a trans woman that is bad, but it's nothing to do with the term itself, it's that it's being applied as a means of misgendering; in much the same way that calling someone a man is only really a problem when it's used to misgender someone
