PSA: if you have a custom theme, check your blog on a browser with Ublock on
i tried going to my blog to find something and got hit with a warning before trying to proceed. i tried visiting a couple of other blogs, no issues. it didn't seem to have anything to do with my reblogs, so i went to check the theme editor - and yep, my whole blog had been replaced with a fake captcha verification script.
the offending script originates from "cappucci icons". if your blog is giving you similar errors or looks similarly sus, ctrl + f that in your theme HTML and remove it. obviously, whatever icons your blog pulled from there won't work, but better to get rid of them than to put blog visitors at risk.

if there's one thing i want every able-bodied person to understand, it's that 99% of the time, disabled people understand their own bodies way better than anyone else does.
that means that sometimes, disabled people will do things that seem counterintuitive or harmful to you. you may be worried about things like deconditioning, about malnutrition, about mental health consquences, etc. and i understand your heart is in the right place! but these are all things the disabled person in your life understands, and they make the choices they do for a reason.
part-time wheelchair users are aware of deconditioning and the fact that walking less means they'll lose some strength! however, they also understand that using a wheelchair means they are able to do things that they otherwise wouldn't be able to. abled people may think a person's options are "use the wheelchair vs. walk a little". the person's ACTUAL options may be "use the wheelchair vs. don't go at all".
people with conditions that require highly restrictive diets understand that they are not eating as nutritiously as possible. the gastroparesis diet, for example, requires basically no fruits or vegetables or high-fiber foods. a person who follows the gastroparesis diet understands that the way they eat creates a lot of nutritional issues. abled people may think the person's options are "eat a gastroparesis diet vs. eat a balanced diet". the person's ACTUAL options may be "eat a gastroparesis diet or throw up every single day, possibly multiple times a day".
this is true in a million ways for a million different disabilities. i always get really well-meaning advice from people who believe my body works like theirs, and therefore don't understand the consequences of their proposals. they don't understand that i make my choices very deliberately, and that i am well-aware of the risks they're thinking about. i am much more well-aware of those realities than people who are being confronted with my condition for the first time ever! deconditioning has occurred to me before, but "this person will have to spend 3 days in bed recovering from a walk around the park" has not occurred to them before.
this disability pride month, please show the disabled people around you the respect they deserve and recognize that they know. anything that takes less than 5 minutes for you to come up with, they've thought of it! show them support by asking THEM about their needs and how you can help, and listen to what they say without debating them about their own bodies.
THEY IMMEDIATELY REVERSED IT???
