Advice for Remy, Day 84. You're never too old to go and feed the ducks. As we’re only allowed one trip outside for exercise right now, we wanted to make sure we made it count. We’re very lucky in having such a nice space in the front and back gardens in which to spend time, especially on such a lovely spring day as today. But we still wanted to make sure we could leave the house properly, or else it won’t be long before Coronavirus Quarantine Cabin Fever (CQCF) sets in. We took a lovely walk across the fields, past the Christmas trees and to the lake - and never saw another living soul all the way there or all the way back. However, there were plenty of rabbits, hares, horses, donkeys, swans, geese, and a particularly tame field mouse to greet us along the way. The intention was to feed the ducks on the lake, a wholesome family activity if ever there was one. But it was scuppered by the fact that (a) there were no ducks, and (b) those water birds present (swans, geese, moorhens, coots etc) didn’t seem at all interested in our food distribution efforts and all conspired to thoroughly snub us. But it was far from a wasted journey. Watching birds swimming in open water is such a relaxing experience, especially in such turbulent times and such beautiful surroundings. So make sure you never lose the urge to go and feed the ducks. Even if they fail to show up, it’ll still be worth it.
