my one qualm with the translation of demons that i read is that they didn’t feminize the ladies’ surnames. i did, however, enjoy all the little cultural notes and the fact that they included translations for the french bits
additionally, sue asked why i was rewatching the demons miniseries, so i told her that i watched it before i read the book and needed to rewatch to see how well it fit with the book. she kind of just sniffed and said something along the lines of “i don’t know why you did that; the book is always better than the movie,” which, um, duh.
i did it because i like knowing what to anticipate, and also because i like having voices to put to names. otherwise, most everyone has the same voice when i read, and it gets confusing. but also, i like to watch the screen adaptation first because then i won’t be left wanting afterwards, the way people tend to be be if they read first and then watch.
