Never before has it been so awkward to be the third wheel. In the before, he hadn't minded all that much. Hanging out with his best friend and his partner had been almost second nature, because he actually liked his best friend's partner. He liked them arguably too much, which is what had partially led Reed into this situation in the first place. His best friend had avowed that this relationship would be different, that he would remain faithful, but that's not happening. And now he has to sit back and act like he knows nothing, like nothing has changed, sat in the recliner and glancing at the couple on the couch. "I'm going to run to the convenience store." He needs some air. "You two want anything?"

honestly , amara doesn't know how they've ended up like this . ever since that night when she'd stayed over when things had gotten too late there was a shift in their relationship . touches that lingered . gazes that were fixed for a moment too long . and now here they were . she's spread over his lap , thighs twitching slightly as his fingers tease at the sensitive spot between her legs . clara wasn’t one for profanities, but if any situation would make think ‘oh fuck’ it was the one she’d just created. it was meant to be a nice brunch with her boyfriend, one for him to ‘apologise’ for how he’d been treating her. it was the same old routine they went through whenever she found the courage to break up with him, and then he inevitably talked her back down. what was also part of their routine, was him inviting his friends along - wanting her to simply be something pretty on his arm while he spoke with his friends. something complicated this time with the fact she’d certainly crossed a line with his friend. shifting uncomfortably in her seat, she waited until her boyfriend had to take a call before turning to the other. “if you could... not mention anything about last night to him, it... it would be appreciated.” 

she’d gone back home for the holidays, and was reminded how littler things changed. when she saw one of the jerks from her old school annoying some poor innocent person trying to enjoy a drink. so she finished her own glass, ordering another, promptly walking over to throw it in the jerk’s face. “they said no, now scram.” she could tell herself they ran screaming because of how intimidating she was, but she reasoned it had more to do with their now soaked shirt. “are you okay?”

jax shut the door behind him, his eyes dilating at the sight of the other also in the bathroom. the party behind them thumped in deep bassy tones, hiding their respective partners. but right now, jax was not thinking about his- he was only thinking of them. “we can be extra loud this time,” they sauntered forward two steps, wide hips swinging, dress dancing around pale skin and teasing the lace tops of their stockings. “extra loud for our secretive selves.”
