Every morning there was a little less chill in the air as he he left the house for his morning run, a sign of better days to come. Rosie was in high spirits, too, the German Shepherd bounding around him, running off to explore, bfore coming back. He was down near the lake when he heard a startled yelp, looking up to see the dog excitedly standing over someone, tail wagging. “Rosie, c’mon girl,” Bertie called as he jogged over. “Get off, c’mon.”

“I know, I know.” Dawn dissolved in a fit of giggles, a combination of the wine she’d been drinking and the pure joy from the win.

Frank stopped in his tracks as he pushed open the door to Tremblay Manor. It looked like a war zone. “What’s -- going on?”

“Okay,” a venom filled laugh left Rosalind’s lips as she fully turned to face the girl who just didn’t seem to get it. “Do you need me to use smaller words?”
