Art class was no different.
In fact, for Alora, it may have been worse.
She sat at her easel, staring blankly at the canvas before her. It was scarce of any paint or charcoal, representing exactly how she felt at that moment.
She could barely focus; she could barely remember her own name.
There was only one name looping her brain, one name that has kept her up at night, one name that made her heart stutter.
Clover... Clover... Clover...
"Alora?"
Alora let out a gasp, her eyes shooting up towards the kind green gaze looming over her.
"S-sorry Professor Cleo.."
"No need to apologize." Cleo let out a laugh, their gaze moving towards the canvas. Their eyebrows pinched together in mild confusion.
"That's.. very interesting.." they offered a kind smile, attempting to remain supportive but also clearly being lost.
Alora laughed dryly, her shoulders slumping in defeat.
"I know.. I just- ...I can't think straight." She mumbled, anxiously bitting at the tip of her paintbrush. Her cheeks heated as Clover's face flashed across her mind, trying to ignore that said girl was sitting only a few feet away, casually painting across her own canvas.
Cleo noticed the faint rosey tint crossing Alora's face, an almost knowing look crossing their own.
"Oh, I see."
Alora wasn't sure her face could get any redder if she tried.
"It's nothing," she muttered, dramatically stabbing her paintbrush into the little glass jar sitting at the edge of her easel. "It's just a stupid faze."
Cleo laughed, crossing their arms and tilting their head with an amused expression.
"Are you sure it's just a faze, Ms. Nidra?"
Alora let out a whine, burying her face in her hands.
"I-I don't know! I just can't get her off of my mind! I don't know if it's just some faze or if I really.. if I really... I don't even know! And of course she's completely oblivious to all of it, and I don't want to tell her cause I don't want to make her uncomfortable at all!"
Cleo nodded slowly, their gaze flicking across the students and over to where Clover was sitting.
"...We are talking about Ms. Moon, correct? You two have been awfully close lately."
Alora nodded with defeat.
Cleo nodded once more, reaching over Alora to grab the paintbrush put of the jar that it had been discarded to. They held it out to Alora, raising an expectant brow.
"Well, Alora," they started, "don't compress all of those emotions. Instead, transfer them into your art." And with a smirk, they added: "As the famous artist Vincent van Gogh said: "I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people"."
Alora's heart twisted at the word "love". Nonetheless, she took the paintbrush from Cleo.
"Thanks, professor..."
She stared at the canvas, her hand gripping the brush still trembling violently. Her mind was still racing at a million miles per hour.
Clover... Clover... Clover...
Alora glanced at the paint pallets laying in front of her, biting her lip as she reached towards the green.
Well... better make the most of this nonsense...
