Jenni Lisonbee was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has always dreamed of a job working in the movie industry in either acting or almost any role. When Jenni was a young child, Tammy took her to a movie store. She thought Jenni was following right behind her through the store. Then she heard this huge sigh and as she walked around the corner, saw Jenni laying on the floor with her arm over her head. Tammy asked Jenni what she was doing. Jenni dramatically pointed up to a Tom Cruise movie. Tammy then decided to enroll Jenni in some acting classes, where she learned her love of theater and movies.

Featured Fan #6: Mimi-Evelyn
And for our final interview this week, the wonderful @mimi-evelyn!
H: How did you discover Robin Hobb, and when/what did you read first?
M-E: I saw the books on a display stand in a bookshop in Cornwall. I remember admiring Jackie Morris' cover art so much more that I added them to my reading list. I started with the audiobook of Assassins Apprentice, read by Paul Boemer and haven't looked back.
H: What would you like to see more of in the medieval fantasy genre going forward?
M-E: I think there needs to be more experimentation. More innovation. There is a danger with the current fantasy scene of stories becoming formulaic. I rather hope that's simply a side effect of the sudden peak in interest that we've seen in fantasy lately, that publishers are not being particularly choosy. But I am hoping that we start to see more new and groundbreaking story ideas starting to emerge. Fantasy readership is now bigger and younger than it has been in years. This can only mean good things for the development of new stories and evolution of the genre.
H: What’s your favourite medieval fantasy trope?
M-E: Oh I have many, but I am a real sucker for a good old fashioned quest. Especially when it's a small and endearing group that you can grow to care about as you journey with them. I've always favoured character driven narratives, and this combined with a definite goal and a series of unknown obstacles is a winner for me.
H: If you could have any magical power, what would you choose?
M-E: Probably elemental powers. I'd love to command the wind or summon fire or bend nature to my aid! That sounds good fun. Although flying is always a good one as well.

Featured Fan #5: Magic-Redhead
Today’s interviewee is the delightful @magic-redhead!
H: Aside from Robin Hobb, do you read much medieval fantasy? Anything in particular?
M-R: I read a lot of medieval fantasy, and since I was a little kid! My favourite ones are obviously Tolkien, or Gemmel. But mostly everything the edition "Bragelonne" publishes is good for me!
H: Are there other subgenres of fantasy you like and why?
M-R: I always get confused with the different names in fantasy... But apart from regular heroic-fantasy, one that I really like is when people from our world get thrown/stuck in a fantasy world, like "Everworld" by K.A. Applegate, "Ewilan" by P. Bottero, or "le livre des étoiles" by E. L'homme. I like these stories because they make me daydream a lot: like in Ewilan, a giant spider could be climbing my window right now and I could fight it! Or like in Everworld, I could be in the wrong place (or good? hehe) in the wrong time and be meeting Loki and his family the next day...
H: What's your least favourite medieval fantasy trope?
M-R: I hate it when it's about a prince/king/someone with great power/really wise blablabla that is doing some quests, is a fighter, lives on the road even if he has royal blood. And then he meets the fair blond-haired lady that is really pure and nice and they fell in love and... Like most of relationships in Lord of the rings. Or in Shannara, that I read recently and hated it.
H: Sword or Sorcery?
M-R: Sword or sorcery?? It's so hard to choose!!!! I would looove to be a great sorcerer and light fires with my mind, or moves objects... But I have a soft spot for big army fights that charge with the swords held up above your head, when you are only 1000 against billions!!!
Featured Fan #4: Sophie
H: What is your favourite medieval fantasy book/series and why? S: I'd say my favourite medieval fantasy is Lord of the Rings. The main reasons are that it has such a large scope full of history, politics, religion and culture. The world is so complete and yet there is so much still unknown. It's a masterpiece of literary world building... H: What do you particularly like/dislike about medieval fantasy? S: I find that I really like the fictional worlds that have more of a mythical quest aspect to them. I dislike novels that push the tropes too far or go over the top. Or don't have a tongue in cheek way of doing so. H: What is your favourite medieval fantasy trope? S: I would say that it has to be the disadvantaged hero rising above challenges. I always feel the need to egg them on the whole way. H: And if you could have a magical power what would you choose? S: I would want to be able to change my appearance at will. Like Mirage from X-Men.
