dick was grateful that he was able to “resume” his friendship with garfield, even if the other titan didn’t remember anything. at least dick had gar here. 

he’d seen rachel and tara around but hadn’t been able to convince himself to talk to them. what if they were like garfield? 

what if they didn’t remember anything either? what if he couldn’t handle having to try to explain over and over that they’d been through so much together?

he wasn’t normally such a coward, but he was more than happy to ignore the current problem in favor of hanging with a friend.

the familiar canine greeted him when he opened the apartment door. “hey cyclops, buddy. how’s it hangin’? gar, you in there? did you get buried by your own laundry again?”

this isn’t his drink. or his name. 

is this what happens when he doesn’t actively flirt with the baristas?

not that he wouldn’t flirt with the baristas here, they are all extremely cute. but he just wants his coffee, he’s not awake enough to flirt.

he’s come to the conclusion that, at least first thing in the morning, he’s forgettable. which is a travesty of the highest proportions. 

“i just wanted my sinfully sugary highly caffeinated death drink. is that too much to ask?”

billy looks over, his attention caught by someone else waiting there at the counter. and by chance, he glances down to see his name on the cup in the stranger’s hand.

when he looks back up, everything clicks into place. because, of course. it makes perfect sense.

“oh. well. okay. yeah that tracks.”

he looks just like billy and poor billy is stuck between freaking out and admiring how attractive they both are. 

dick was thrilled to have bruce back, maybe less thrilled about the return of the obligations of being a wayne child. were these the old days, before whatever had happened to land them here on this island, dick would have brought wally or roy. but roy wasn’t here and the idea of having bruce and wally in the same building when their “relationship” was still where it was, well it was kind of a terrifying thought. 

that’s how he finds himself helping garfield get ready.
