Amelia Earhart, Fearless Flyer fights Nazis... in the future!
Soooo...I, Jeremy Whitley (if you don’t know) got the awesome opportunity to write a story for The Thrilling Adventure Hour and when the Bens asked what I’d be interested in writing, of course my answer was “I wanna write a story about queer time-travelling Amelia Earhart fighting Nazis but I’m gonna go out of my way to make the gay subtext into text.”
So, please enjoy this episode of Amelia Earhart, Fearless Flyer. Episode title is “This Cockamamie Future” but the title of the story is “Valentina”.

The loop . . . the spiral dive . . . the dip of death . . . Ruth Law did it all. And in 1916 when she made up her mind to fly from Chicago to New York City in an out-of-date biplane, there was no use trying to stop her. I was drawn immediately to this fearless woman who followed her dreams with such determination and purpose. I loved how Ruth immersed herself fully in flying, mastering the mechanics of her plane. She sent an important message to all women: “The sky was my limit and the horizon my sphere. It’s any woman’s sphere if she has nerve and courage and faith in herself. She’s got to have faith in herself.” I know Ruth Law would be thrilled that Fearless Flyer was chosen for the Amelia Bloomer List—a list of books that inspire our girls to dream big and steer their own course!

Bugsby comes from a long and illustrious line of flying monsters, and like the others of his clan he has very poor eyesight. Unlike his family, who confines themselves to the ground because of their fear of flying blind, Bugsby has learned to use sonar to "see" his way in the sky. Not using his voice, (because Bugsby has no illusions about his singing) but using one of his many colorful kazoos.
