the start of year has been treating her rather well – despite the push to really put herself out there. it seems like the universe was making sure she pulls through with her promise this year. there were just a few more bags of candies to give out and not a lot of time before she needed to go back to the practice room again. she tried to walk a little faster than usual and scan the room for the next kind-looking person she could find. one that wouldn’t hesitate to take the candies. no matter how embarrassing or awkward it might be, it’s valentine’s too so it won’t come off as weird or stalker-ish to walk up to someone to give them something.

charlie was hesitant at first, worried that he might ignore her. but she mustered the courage to walk up to him to hand over a bag of candies with a smile, “this is a little something for valentine’s… you can share them with your friends if you’re not into sweets.” charlie bows before she starts to walk away. she stops though and turns around one last time, finger over her lips hoping that he wouldn’t tell anyone about it, “i hope you enjoy them!”

there was something strange in the air during valentine’s day. there was so much. expectation. into a single day.

“hi charlie!” hyunjin smiles brightly, not having spoken to her much before this but he’d heard about people giving chocolates on valentine’s day. he was expecting it after the routine and anticipation of valentine’s and white day annually. “thank you so much, i’ll make sure to eat them slowly and enjoy them.”

Hana is peering around corners, analyzing every face that happens to pass her by. None of them bear the face of her best friend. Not the signature smile or his fading bleached hair. With each one, the curve of her frown grows. She begins to think that, perhaps, she’s missed him ㅡ he went home earlier than usual or was still diligently practicing.

Feeling defeated, she clutches the Valentine’s gift to her chest and shuffles down the corridors in a sluggish slump. It simply wouldn’t have the same effect if she wasn’t able to deliver the chocolates to him on that precise day. Even if he isn’t overly fond of sweets.

But just as she’s beginning to lament over her dilemma, she runs into him ㅡ quite literally.

The dramatic side she typically keeps concealed emerges the moment she gazes up at him. She’s still startled, so her voice emerges in a yell. “HYUNJIN! h… HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! You don’t have to eat this but I really wanted to giveyousomethingsoyoucouldfeelspecial,okbye.”

bam! he’s not normally clumsy, but it takes two to run into one another after all. his breath is taken away, literally in fact and it takes two seconds for hyunjin in a daze to realize hana has turned the corner and ran straight into him. that’s right, he was having a simple walk in his own world, when the collision occurred. he has half the idea that hana is going to run away right after her statement of a ramble, and he thinks he caught all of it, but isn’t quite sure.

“did you want to repeat that last part again, hana?” he asks, straight faced before laughing and thanking her. “thank you hana. i appreciate it a lot.”

“yo hyung,” hyunjin greets with a smile as he finally settles in the dorm after the evening training session. “you’re lucky you have the morning session, i must declare that as a fact. you get the whole night to do other things.” he lays down like a starfish, bag and shoes strewn about. only for a moment, because despite the dorms shifting around, and he no longer being roommates with haneul, the cleaning bug still struck him out of being disciplined into being neater in general. quickly sitting back up to put things away, he then proceeded to lay down again, if only emphasizing his childish nature behind the scenes. yes, it is definitely in the dorms where he lets his guard down and melts into his surroundings.

“did you prepare anything good for me to eat?” he says in a sing-song tone, as he moseys up to where the other is, mouth curling into a smile. pardon his whining, hyunjin genuinely means 5% annoyance and 0% ill intent from it, it’s a bad habit. “or should i make a quick food run or something of the sort,” as his stomach growls embarrassingly on cue. “i feel like a hobbit. i think i need to eat for two or, what is it that they say, ‘second breakfast’, second dinner, you know. we are but growing young men after all.”
