It’s really funny you mention the whole Chloe vs Elena thing because there’s official wikis about Elena and Chloe’s relationship and it flat out says that they’ve got a bit of a rivalry at first but they bond after the events in Shambhala. And in UC3 Elena doesn’t show any animosity toward Nate about him /hanging out with Chloe/ just that he got her involved to begin with, which to me translates more as her being upset with him for doing something unsafe
Well I mentioned it particularly because I remembered this post from a while back that really pissed me off. I still don’t consider them to have had a rivalry (at least not over Nate, as the post implies), but they certainly didn’t like each other and they had legitimate reasons. Elena was a wild card in an otherwise formulated plan, she was a hindrance in Chloe’s and Nate’s plans, and even though she can hold her own, she’s still an outlier Chloe wasn’t counting on and thanks to Elena, Elena’s coworker gets gunned down by Lazarevich and shit hits the fan.
On the flip side of that, though, Elena doesn’t think Chloe can be trusted because of the way she keeps switching sides, even if it’s just for “show”. She’s callous and uncaring of others, and in Elena’s eyes, puts her own safety before everyone else’s. Their rivalry was more of mistrust than it was rivalry, simply because the two met on unfavorable odds. In my answer, I was directly referring to this, because in uc3 it’s so obvious she’s pissed at nate for getting not just Sully, but now Chloe and Cutter involved in his shit. But there’s still shippers on both sides of the fandom (be it the chloexnate shippers or the nelena shippers) who try to pit them both against each other and use their original meeting in uc2 as an excuse for their gross behaviors
