#fbi thing

how do you avoid the fantail virus???

So I clicked on one of those 'virus accounts' yesterday but I have absolutely no idea what to do to get rid of the virus if I do have one?? I shut down my computer right away when I got to the FBI website... I'm scared :(

Then if they got the computers that's probably because they touched/clicked/whatever things on the website. One of the reasons I mention to stay calm is because, if they wanted to put something in your computer, they would have at the very moment. But to put a virus they normally need some kind of consent, clicking a link IN THE BLOG, or in other cases opening a downloaded file. Oh, and I doubt Mac/Linux users are even in danger xD And I'm not expert but as you said I can help anyone with doubts

is tumblr even doing something against this ??

Thanks, I'm familiar with the virus type, but I'm under the impression good pc protection should prevent infection at all times. I'll be sure to investigate, especially since I just saw one of my followed blogs turns out to be a virus. Seems they got hacked. Maybe a little tip, if you're unsure if a url is safe, go to VirusTotal and check it there.

And in the worse scenario where you get struck by the virus, disconnect that computer from the internet, and search for a solution in another device. Still, if this infected, unpleasant ambience (spam in your tumblr wall, automated messages, mysterious followers) is only on tumblr then the important thing (YOUR ACTUAL COMPUTER/DEVICE) is not infected, so above all, it's important to remain calm (which is what these guys don't want you to be), eventually the site will be clean again.
