Quick refs of Melete, first in her current appearance / default outfit, and then in her hairstyle she sports after the drabble-set that will someday be finished, because you’ll rip my dramatic hair-cutting montage from my cold, dead hands.

Melete’s the descendant of @rebatrolls Nomizo Etheri! Her psi’s evolved into intangibility, and when she passes through things, whether they’re psionics or electronics, they glitch and self-destruct. She spends most of her day working or using her psi, and can be a flinchy mess about stimuli as a result - don’t touch her, don’t make loud noises, she mostly only eats oatmeal and even that’s too seasoned - but she slogs through it with a stiff upper lip.

She’s dry-witted, aggressively analytical, and tends to view any sort of emotional outburst as a sort of dead mouse that others keep dragging onto her doorstep. She tries to be kind because, as she reasons, it keeps everyone mild and quiet - in reality, she’s a soft touch, for all that she’s personally unaware of it.

Work is her main thrill in life, because she was raised to do it. Everything else, as far as she’s concerned, is just something to be dealt with.. with the exception of Nanako, who she’s low-key trying something akin to flush-dating on the side.

Your legal name is CARROT MUFFIN, but no one calls you that. As a wee tot, you quickly learned you were made for the limelight - and now, nearly at Ascension, you’ve created your own niche in cyberspace, and a name to go with it. You are now MERLON RABBIT, famed urban explorer, and your propensity towards live-streaming your adventures breaking and entering various famous institutes and homes has earned you the position of MOST POPULAR STREAM on all of SWITCH.TV. This hasn’t come easily! You’re constantly surrounded by a swarm of microdrones that tape your every moment, and you’ve had more technology installed into your pan than any blueblood should. This allows you to control your stream in live-time, switching angles and filters, and telling each bot where it needs to be for the best shot. It also leaves you permanently distracted as you juggle half-a-dozen eyes, but you’ve always been good at multi-tasking! And after sweeps of this, if you don’t have at least three views on hand at a time, you’ve started to feel a little blind. In your downtime, you work for the ALTERNIAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY, working as the SECOND-HAND MAN for the PUBLIC PROPAGANDA department. History is boring, and no one can see into the past, no matter how hard they try - but it’s always fun to film their events, and drawing a crowd has always been easy for you, whether it’s online or off. Your trolltag is vaultingDollyshots, and o= you like to imitate your drones! =o

Tonight’s NPC: Zvezda Cosmos! Design adopted from the lovely @spicecookies.

She’s the fourth employee of Pheres and Sipara’s shop! She lives in the building next door, and acts as cashier, groundskeeper and general face-of-the-business when everyone else is gone. She’s very laidback and naturally inclined towards being mild-mannered, which hides her natural propensity towards the absurd: her pelicanspider lusus has left her with slightly unusual standards towards normal behaviours, and the social acceptability of things like eating live fish.

MAH JIE AL-AUJA is an eleven year old yellowblood who is met in >DUNGEONCRAWL by Pheres, Hinnom, Liyiji and Riccin (which will get finished eventually, argh. quq) She’s technically a cyborg - she got yanked from the cavern immediately post-trials to be integrated into the helmsmen hivemind that a seadweller general uses to protect certain old religious monuments and temples planet-side. While she and her sisters all retain relative autonomy, they were in constant telepathic contact, which they used to transmit orders, synch up the pan-nannies that regulated their behaviour, and use their combined knowledge base to maintain and shore up the natural defenses over the temples.

At nine, Mah Jie was forcibly cut off from the rest of her cohort and the global network, so that she could be placed in charge of guarding a temple dedicated to the horrorterrors, the worship of whom is very, very illegal. She’s a deeply lonely kid, with a vocabulary that’s about thirty years too old for her, an understanding of people that relies heavily on them acting with the same precision and logic as her pan-nanny does. Everything about people on the island for the first time is exciting for her, up until the trio stop acting in ways she can predict and she starts to frazzle.

CANA-RY AI YING is Liyiji’s best friend, and a seven sweep tyrian heiress who’s a strong believer of fate and destiny, and views her job as driving the rest of the heirs out of hiding so that they can face theirs. Her lusus are a flock of canaries that she uses to practice augury, and she’s a fairly floaty, friendly person with no functional sense of humor, but a strong belief in various forms of predestination. She nearly got murdered by Myrrha when she and Liyiji were small children, and her hate-friendship with Liyiji - and their fake-threats - have been mistaken as a keen opportunity for auspisticism by a couple of people, much to their shared distaste.

MYRRHA QUISLE is a nine sweep jadeblood masquerading as a teal. When she was a kid who first joined up with the Imperial Education Program, she and Liyiji hatched a plan that involved sacrificing their stipends permanently in exchange for her getting legally registered as teal. She hates the caverns intensely, and alternates between active disdain and fierce pride towards her caste: her particular strain of Suffererism claims that jadebloods are the only caste wise enough to guide others and she takes her implicit duties very seriously, but she can’t help but view traditional jade values as inherently distressing.

ELILAH EL-NBUR is a nine sweep old brownblood and one of the many accountants employed by the Alternian Historical Society. As a participant since he was five sweeps, he’s one of the most well-known faces! Few realise that a fraction of all the money that passes through his tent disappears, or exactly how much money the accountants make off of forging authentication signatures and paperwork on the side. Under Chapar, he helps with the smuggling business that the various lowbloods in AHS run.

♥: Myrrha loves being loved. She actively seeks out flushed quadrants, but she’s not well-suited to the quadrant: she’ll get attached, but ultimately, she always thinks that she knows best, and she’s always trying to shape people instead of accepting them. Every relationship she’s been in flushways, she’s been dumped. She is only 80% bitter over this.

♠️: Myrrha guns hard in pitch. She pitch-flirts freely, she has flings freely, but the problem always comes up that she does not view her partners as equals. Myrrha never feels the need to prove herself better, because she knows she’s better, and she’s never been in a relationship that makes her experience the slightest doubt.

She has not gotten dumped in every pitch relationship, but this is largely because she frequently dumps them first.

♦: Myrrha believes she is always in the right, and others are simply confused a best, and willfully ignorant at worst. This makes her a hassle for pale, where she views it as a matter of her guiding others, moreso than as an equal partnership.

♥: HR is very, very easy for flush romances. The secret to earning his pity is having a great deal of ambition, and just enough tragic foils that you’ll potentially never achieve them, and he’ll start crushing even as he tries to help you realise the issue. He’s a firm believer that only an individual can solve their own problems, which is the difference between him getting pale and flush - if they’re enough of a mess he wants to fix them, that’s enough of a mess he’s not attracted.

She’s currently called Jaceni Taulia, aka the Incabird! She’s seven sweeps, a maroonblood who was raised up in the Imperial Education Program, and recently got conscripted early into helming so she could be placed as the powersource for the illegal coolant factory that Vadaya was sent on a mission to shut down (and ID tagged along on). Because the only thing worse than being part of the IEP is being part of it, and being deemed as disposable.

Plans are that she’ll be taken up by the IPC after the factory’s cleared, and then placed under Vadaya to be watched. Because when you have a traumatised fourteen year old, you absolutely want to pass her off to the equally traumatised twenty four year old to govern, right?
