F.A.T.’s FFFFFartsy
http://fffff.at/fffffartsy/ This is a meta-joke at the process of curation at museums, by isolating an image with the universally recognized white canvas in an empty room. In it, any works, satirical or not, become a work of art, making the project successful in its own goals of lampooning how anything can be art. It is transformative and a jab at the art world.
Visit An Phu Earthworm Farm in Cu Chi
The trip was organized by Fatlab, a place founded by some French-Vietnamese where people meet-up, form team to work on a project that they like, you can check their facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/FablabSaigon.
I have always been interested in having a wormbin ( only know about this word after the trip) to make the best use of my home green waste. Moreover, my mom did like the idea of growing earthworm ( or trùn quế in Vietnamese) through her friend. Then suddenly, I saw the trip info on one of Fatlab's member's timeline ( or on Fatlab itself as I'm also following them, can't remember which one, oh my bad memory); and decided to join immediately as I have no urgent thing to do on Wednesday.
The trip was really enjoyable and did bring a lot of fresh and new knowledge to my mind. Anh Tuấn, the owner of the farm, is a very passionate farmer/entrepreneur for not only growing earthworm, but also at commercialising the end product which he thinks is more important than growing. About the end product, from the worm's dung only, we have: organic fertilizer, a natural "whatever" to clean shrimp farms.
Tuấn pointed out the difficulties he is facing. They are:
Vietnamese farmers have used chemical in their activities a lot that it's very hard for them to switch to more organic substitutes ( from trùn quế).
The good product/brand is not strongly protected in Vietnam. The others can have the exact same package as his product without a certification.
About the wormbin project, Tuấn suggested us to try other worm as his worm is not suitable for the bin. So the members have to fly over to Malaysia to collect the worm eggs.
To sum up, there are a lot of things to do at the farming industry in Vietnam. I hope that there will be entrepreneurs who can apply the tech and other skills to solve Tuấn's problems above. That would be great to Vietnam then.
