These bastards were getting creative. They weren’t just trying to eliminate the agents, they were trying to infect them.

He’d ended up in Piers’ care again. Advanced genetics or not, Fritz was hardly a soldier. But the bullets didn’t frighten him as much as the virus-laden bombs being tossed around. Piers’ condition may have been stable, but injecting him with a new strain could undo everything the man had gone through to stand beside them today. 

Which was why, when a bomb skidded their way, he didn’t hesitate. Piers was dragged down by his shoulders, Fritz all but folding over him, shielding the American from the spray of darts. The bomb had been mostly blocked by debris, but several needles peppered across the German’s back. 

Pain exploded from each point, Fritz letting out a howl as he reached back, attempting to brush them away. His system was full of ADAM, he would survive the virus, right? It destroyed cells, replaced them with unstable stem versions. It would destroy virus-infected cells-

And down he went, steam rising from ashen skin as he writhed. It felt like every nerve in his body had been set on fire. If the ADAM didn’t win, he’d soon be a flaming cocoon, and whatever rose from that damned chrysalis would no longer be human.

      “Go-”

His voice was hoarse, strangled. Fritz had curled in on himself, unable to properly move, still lying precisely where he’d fallen beside the BSAA agent.
