I can't decide...help me, Fates...
Aife or Maeve? The ladies got a hold on me...
😅
Consider the following:
Hi, what's the latest situation re: release dates?
We're gunning for a fall release for Shae and Maeve pt. 2, but we plan on having a side story/feature update out before then! This is later than we had hoped for re: Shae and Maeve, but to be completely honest, the current political climate has our half-U.S., half-Canadian team...stressed! To put it mildly.
Nevertheless: Our priority right now is nose-to-the-grindstone working on content for the upcoming release(s), which is why our blog/other social media has been quieter lately. We're still here! Surviving. But between the aforementioned and normal day-to-day life, we find it easier to be productive by focusing on the essentials, i.e. the game itself.
Stay safe out there, fateful friends.
Why do you have characters in a romance game that don’t feel romance, that defeats the whole purpose of a romance game. Why would I want to love someone that I know doesn’t actually feel love??
Good evening to all (excluding the attention-seeker in our inbox),
Over the past day or so, we've received a number of asks on the subject of Robin and Keagan (but mostly Keagan's) aromanticism. As you can see, some of these asks may be good-faith inquiries about the differences between the romantic and platonic routes for these particular characters. Others are very obvious attempts to make us walk back Keagan's demiromantic identity (which will not happen), or are otherwise just trying to give us grief for including arospec characters to begin with. We suspect, given the *timing and repetitive phrasing of the asks, that these are all coming from one person, but since the asks are anonymous, we cannot confirm this. Nevertheless, we have decided to share them with our followers, because going forward, we are going to be increasingly selective with the variety of asks that we respond to in order to limit possible "discourse bait," i.e. questions designed to argue with us rather than allow us to explain our thought process or artistic goals. Inevitably, this may mean that well-meaning but tonally ambiguous questions are not answered out of an abundance of caution, which could prompt genuinely good-faith askers to assume we're avoiding tough questions. This is not our goal, but ultimately, this is not a discourse blog. We're independent artists creating a story that we want to tell, first and foremost. If a decision we make ultimately results in you not wanting to support our game, then you are free to take your leave.

We don't usually answer these all-cast questions anymore, but...

Asking in good faith.
The Unseelie court is:
Men who died in violent wars. Men or women who were considered wicked. Unmarried women who died in child birth
Children who died without being baptised or children who were cursed by their parents in anger.
So I am confused by your interpretation, it is wrong to change a country's mythology no matter what reason?
Folklore and mythology is, by its mostly word-of-mouth nature, subject to constant evolution / reinterpretation. We would also fervently disagree with your declaration that the Unseelie Court you describe is the only or verifiably original interpretation of the Seelie / Unseelie as a concept (which are Scottish terms, by the way, not Irish). In fact, we would argue that it is close to impossible to actually know for certain what most myths looked like in their original forms due to the aforementioned word-of-mouth spread, regional variations of similar folklore, and potentially more insidious influences, such as colonization, on existing textual documentation. For example: The entire mythology of Ireland has been inarguably changed in irreversible ways due to the influence of Christianity. Does this mean everyone should disregard all historical documentation of Irish myths, since they are tainted in some way? No, obviously not. If we did that, there would be no Irish myths.
In summary: We fundamentally reject the idea that 1) your stated definition of the Unseelie Court is the inherently "correct" interpretation, and that 2) it is wrong to build off of or re-imagine mythology in the context of its history. If this logic was taken to its extreme, the modern genre of fantasy (which inherently draws and interprets from folklore and mythology) would either not exist, or be completely devoid of the culture and humanity that makes it such a beloved genre; arguably the oldest genres in the history of fiction!
On a direct note as it concerns us specifically, we would also say that the reason our Unseelie are not intrinsically wicked (particularly in the Christianized fashion in which this concept is being applied here) is because we believe, on a philosophical level, that the concept of intrinsic wickedness is harmful. Why should unmarried women, or unbaptised children, or men who die in senseless wars be punished? How are their souls tainted by such things? We think this attitude reflects an interesting ethical bias -- which is why it is re-imagined in The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) as a critique.
Flannán do you have any advice about resisting tyranny? Especially in the face of inescapable propaganda
We recognize that this is a sincere request for advice, and that the artifice of said advice coming from a self-assured character such as Flannán would be comforting. However, you need to be cautious about where you seek information/guidance. This variety of advice, coming from a company, will be inherently biased by monetary incentives. Regardless of our (or any other organization's) intentions, everything we do on this platform is by necessity an extension of our brand and marketing.
Please be diligent about the media you consume. Who owns it? How is it funded? What are their biases? Are they selling something? What are their goals? Are you sure they have your best interests at heart, or are they just trying to convince you that they can be trusted?

What happened with Maeve's old voice actor?
Sometimes professional relationships just don't work out for one reason or another; disclosing the specifics would be unprofessional. That said, there is no ill will! We wish the previous voice actor good luck in all her future endeavors.
We do apologize for the suddenness of the announcement, though! Given the need for a recast happened recently, we were unsure for a while if we would have the new lines ahead of the demo's re-launch. But we do, and very much hope you enjoy the new direction for Maeve's voice! You'll get to hear it in-game soon! ^^
