uhh physical: 1. i have fucking great hair, it’s darker than anyone else’s in my family and really thick 2. got a cool subtle birthmark that’s like a weird pale triangle on the side of my neck and 3. i have surprisingly healthy and quite small teeth that mean i’m never gonna have to get my wisdom teeth removed! there’s room for everyone. unbelievably lucky
non-physical: 1. i think i’m real fuckin funny, i dunno about y’all 2. even if i’m not great at knowing what to say, i’m a good listener 3. my art is. quite often not terrible. ive done some fun stuff with them lines and colors and it’s getting better all the time!

My headcanon: Martin is like catnip to little old ladies. They literally cannot resist pinching his cheeks and patting his hair. They have a universal instinct to ply him with tea and biscuits. Gertrude almost did it once, and she was horrified, refusing to look at him for a full week. Jon discovers his secret superpower when a potential ally refuses to have anything to do with him, but then spills everything they moment they see Martin and his little cheeks.
AW I LIKE THIS martin doesn’t usually mind that much, unless he’s in a rush. he learned how to make tea from a knitting circle chock full of little old ladies he was in when he was little. martin has the knowledge of a young man and 30 little old ladies

My non-romantic OTP for this character
Tim! I love his relationship with Tim, I love that he’s the only one Tim will still talk to near the end, I love how stubbornly determined he is to get Tim and Jon to talk. Give me all the platonic Martin and Tim, I want to know every detail of their friendship.
(Also the Peter and Martin dynamic is fascinating, the way it goes from “I’ve got a knife!” to “Dammit, Peter,” the way Peter is so solicitous of Martin while also being so threatening. WHEN will canon confirm that Martin’s father was a Lukas??)
My unpopular opinion about this character
He’s...he’s not going to be okay, guys. He’s not going to save the world with the power of hope and compassion. I’m not sure what he is going to do but I am not holding out hope for ever seeing sweet-ray-of-sunshine Martin ever again.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I was surprised when I first read it, too! It's incredibly accessible prose. When I first read it in ninth grade, my experience with "classic" literature had been dry, stuffy novels. Dorian Gray changed my expectations.
yea h exactly! i mean, i’ve read conan doyle since i was like 14 so it’s not that much of a surprise but i’m been traumatized by several french novels that were just. Too Much (looking at you flaubert) so rediscovering dorian gray was very pleasant
