"Fat Bodies are the majority."
This is so important. Every year, there's a fresh set of news-pieces lamenting fat bodies, whipping up fatphobic fears about how by X year, X% of people will be fat, digging in about how fat people cost society X amount of dollars. Meanwhile the diet and weight loss industry has raked in TRILLIONS of $, keeping our society in a constant rat race to be thin.
It's all about maintaining this illusory fantasy that fat people are not normal and that fat bodies are an anomaly. But in fact, fat bodies are so very normal, fat bodies are extremely commonplace, and fat bodies have existed since the origins of humanity.
Isn't it time we give up on this oppressive, draining obsession with eradicating fatness? Isn't it time we allow and accept a full and diverse range of bodies without judgement and hate? Because guess what? Fat people are here to stay.
