#NewsBurst: Jack White Sets World Record
While hundreds of people were flocking to their local record stores yesterday for Record Store Day, Jack White was busy setting the world record for fastest-released record. Between 10am yesterday and 2:55pm Jack White recorded two songs Lazaretto—"" (the self-titled track off of his upcoming album) and "Power of My Love" (a cover of an Elvis Presley song)—at his record store in Nashville, Third Man Records, which were then cut, mastered, and pressed on 45s at United Record Pressing. The sleeves for the 45 were photos of the live recording and the 45s themselves were sold at Thrid Man Records.
Jack White stole the world record from "Swiss polka trio Vollgas Kompanie, who issued their album 'Live' on August 16th, 2008, the day after they recorded it," according to an article on RollingStone's website.
