Frank Beard, the longtime, hard-shuffling drummer for Texas rock greats ZZ Top, died on Monday. He was 77.

Remembering Dave Marsh 1950-2026

Music critic and radio host Dave Marsh has died at 76. I read his work in Creem and Rolling Stone over the years and you could always tell he knew his stuff. He wrote some books on Bruce Springsteen and even hosted a Sirius XM show on E Street Radio.

When I was a budding music geek as a teen, I read his 1991 book 50 Ways to Fight Censorship and even did a book report on it. Marsh also appeared in a number of music documentaries including Elvis Presley: The Searcher and my friend Scott Crawford's doc Creem: America's Only Rock 'n' Roll Magazine.
