Working out in Ramadan - Mind over Body! - Today my head trainer made me run my fastest sprint (13.5km/hr) on incline level 8 in fasted state and guess what I did it not once but thrice along with another interval run training session of 12 minutes on treadmill - all of this happening at around 11:30am in the morning with still over 6 hours to go before I eat or drink anything. 😅 - In my mind I was thinking I’m so dead today. There is no way I’m gonna survive till the evening without a sip of water or food. Guess what, I’m pretty much alive, not having any hunger pangs and still strong enough to go another 3 plus hours before I break my fast. 😇 - Moral of the story: You can totally workout in a fasted state! If you workout regularly you can absolutely smash a workout just before breaking your fast and you will survive. I wouldn’t suggest someone new to exercise to push their limits during Ramadan or try doing something new in their fasted state but if you are thinking whether you can or cannot workout an hour before breaking your fast - You totally can! It’s just a matter of whether you want to or not. 💪 - If you want to maintain or lose weight during Ramadan then I highly recommend you workout for 30-60 min (depending on your fitness level) before breaking your fast and you will gain optimal health and fitness results. 👍 - Remember, half of the game is about mind over body. You ‘think’ you cannot run in a fasted state but if you are a regular runner you most definitely can! It’s up to you if you wish to cross that barrier and test your strength. 👊 - Having said that, tread carefully and be conscious of your body.
