Throwback time with a short story: Back in the 90s, models were considered superstars in their own right. Everyone wanted to strut their stuff on the catwalk, and feel the heat of the blinding spotlight. I was no exception to this rule. And although I made quite a name for myself in the business as a photo model, by general standards I always missed the mark for catwalk by just a little. I was either too short, too fat, too pale, too old, I was always told I just wasn’t good enough, and I shouldn’t hope I will ever be a part of that crowd. Last time I spoke to my modeling agent, he was assuring me I can never make it. Tired of disappointment, I pulled my sets from his company and decided to pursue that dream when the time is right. I never got to pursue modeling again, because when it was supposed to happen, it found me. Agencies dubbed me “unmarketable”, however, brands and designers brought me as their own highlight to some of the biggest stages, including #FashionWeek and #FashionSelection. And even though I don’t model as my primary job anymore, I find it an amazing feat to my ever expanding on stage portfolio. The same stage I conquered in spite of all odds, because I never let myself stop believing and that energy was recognized and responded to by the Universe.
