Fascinating, I had to skip over some of it because I’d seen clips in other videos & Blaire does talk SO much (in every video like this tbh) but I disagreed with almost everything the trans liberal side said. It was hard to watch at points but still eye-opening. And though it is called “middle ground” every topic was split down left and right, except one liberal joined the conservative-heavy opinion for one prompt.
I wish the quietest people in the room got more air time. Everything they said was interesting. And the 2 liberal trans men had some fair-minded points, they could acknowledge others’ points that opposed their original perspective on certain topics, but no one truly ended this thinking any different than when it began. And the males talked more than the females of course. the moderators did an odd and lowkey unsuccessful job of moderating speech and topics imo.. however still an interesting watch.
Im struck the most by one of the liberal TIFs, Shane, who talked about stopping hormones, accepting and even loving some of her own female body features, but was still adamantly arguing against any “conservative” talking point and I found that interesting. It felt like because Shane worked on behalf of transactivism in real life, she couldn’t publicly disagree at the end of the discussion with any conservatives. She couldn’t fully loosen up into the debate.. however For the most part Shane talked about her own experience, from an “I” perspective which is a good thing, but unfortunately extrapolated it toward arguing minors should be able to get surgeries before they become adults. I think I disagreed w Shane’s conclusions the most, with the exception of Alexander the male Non-binary clown. My favs were Sara, Jessica, and Andrew, all conservative trans folks. And I think they should have had atleast one other black trans person on the panel… because Blossom was losing the plot
