Jonathan Crane would make an excellent farmer. If he couldn’t return to his teaching job, I think he could retiree to a modest homestead with a lot of farmland. He would be great at it. He’d do it all by himself, harvest pumpkins, corn and wheat. He did a lot of farm work in his childhood, so he’s very much attune to the job and the effort required. Plus he knows how to weird a scythe like nobody’s business.
Imagine an old man Jon with a huge pumpkin patch. Not imagine his past students and various Gothamtes coming to said pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect guard. Jonathan would love reconnecting with his old students and making friends with the children. He could be a positive influence instead of a negative one. Perhaps, he could change for the better.
No longer does he seek out fear, no, he seeks out friendships. In his old age he realizes that the most important thing is companionship...and he’s spent his whole life alone. He needs that in his life, something to fill his cold heart with warmth. Is it just me or is this a really pure idea?
I just want to see a reformed Jonathan living the rest of his life in peace.
