News from the Fields
Hurray for the cooler weather, interspersed with rain! It has made our life so much easier and more practical. Not having to carry around or irrigation outdoors and concentrating on the weeding and sowing has been great.
Matthew and I have been able to get on the Steerage hoe again and have been keeping the weeds at bay. With the rain, they have started to grow very quickly! We’ve also undersown all our brassicas so that the ground stays covered in winter.
Thursday was spent getting our winter brassicas sown. As it rained the whole day, we were very happy to be indoors just for the day, getting our work done in the polytunnel.
We’ve got most of the list done which has helped us be a lot less stressed about winter now!
Harvesting continues and beans have now come into their own. We’re preparing for the Food festival this week too. Do come visit us on the stall. There’s a great line up of interesting talks and workshops including how to make wine from foraged ingredients, screen printing for kids and much much more!
