The Followers of Lily: A fictional fanmade cult for Homestuck and fantrolls
saw someone post about some ocs related religion so I wanted to share about "The Followers of Lily"
Azrael's cult! Mostly the snippet about Azrael himself from the document!
Disclaimer: This cult is a work of fiction and is not real!!
The Leader: Azrael Abbott
Characteristics:
Azrael is extremely kind, but serious outwardly, he often has inspiring words for his followers.
Azrael's followers tend to follow him as if he's a deity and sometimes the voice of God.
Azrael himself doesn't act as if he was chosen by God or the voice of God, but his lusus being an angel certainly solidifies his control over the cult.
Azrael's naturally calming energy and abilities, and growing stronger off the planet without his eyes make people want to follow him. He's also very strong and attractive so it helps in terms of him having an absolute say.
The reason Azrael wants a following is to spread the ideology of the cult. That dying enlightens you and you will achieve ultimate happiness.
Due to Azrael's charismatic nature, and firm hold on his beliefs, people admire that and tend to develop a parasocial relationship with him.
The Followers
A lot of the members tend to be very lost and join when they are at their lowest, the ideology gives them a chance to find a new meaning in their life and change their perspective on death.
A lot of members join at a young age on Alternia (aka: on the planet)
Most tend to have no friends or "family" to rely on, the cult becomes their new family and friends.
Due to the nature of the cult, a lot of people get tangled up in it. Not a lot will excommunicate, but they can. Though a lot end up back in the cult later.
Plants and Cults
Gardening is (obviously) largely significant in frog CULTure. It was the theoretically infinate cycle of plant to seed and back again which initially drew members of the cult to this particular activity, something that became a staple of the church along with frog breeding. Real, proper agriculture soon followed, in the natural progression of things which quickly lead to the church becoming more and more self sufficient. This allowed them to not only sustain themselves, but also generated a source of revenue, while simultaneously putting a bit of a dent in the empresses pockets.
With the new cash inflow came a new way to exert influence, a new core value. Generosity, charity, those things preached by the signless himself, the first steps to a newer and brighter alternia. It was not uncommon in the later years of the church for there to be whole communities built around the largish farms owned by the church, Whole Villages of lowbloods working together, making advancements away from the oppressive gaze of the Highbloods and the Empress.
