First for the year

Seye: *takes the machine by both sides and gives it a good jostle, gets a little scared when it leans forward and pushes it back to its base, successfully retrieves the stuck snack and really hopes no one saw him get scared*

Marti: HACK THE SYSTEM. *successfully retrieves the stuck snack even though how the hell do you hack a vending machine*

Rei: "Don't worry, there's a ninja trick to this." *accidentally fucking shatters the glass and runs away, runs back, retrieves the snack, runs away again*

Jaime: *crowbars the machine open, takes all the snacks, SNACK LIBERATION*

Aedan: *fades in and gets stuck*

Samir: *dangerous use of a teleporter to avoid breaking glass, retrieves snack at the risk of tearing hole in reality*

Rajeev: *jams his arm up in there, gets stuck*

Akasha: *just presses her forehead against the glass in despair*

Faustine: *angrily smacking glass for like three minutes before she snaps her fingers and calls in two goons to shake the machine for her*

Andrea: *just fucking punches out the glass--only takes the one snack*

And for the Alt Fankids:

Phospho: *blows up the machine, doesn't understand that the snacks are now gone, like that one raccoon who tried to wash cotton candy before eating it*

Annie *could hack it like Marti, but makes Gyo shake the machine for her, because he's so manly*

Winston, surrounded by toddlers after working on Tracer's chronal accelerator results in an unexpected explosion: *sobbing* I can't protect them--!

Winston: Wait...

Winston, now housing all the toddlers in a modified barrier to keep them contained: This will protect them!

--Later--

Genji: And you're sure it will wear off?

Winston: The de-aging effect should last only as long as your average chronal accelerator charge! I just put the barrier up to keep them from getting into trouble until then! But now that you're all here, we can just get them back home to sleep the effects off!

Sombra: So you modified the barrier.

Winston: Yep!

Widowmaker: So they can't get out.

Winston: Like a baby pen!

Symmetra: ...And we can't get in.

Winston: Ye-- *catches himself* Oh...oh dear.

Cassidy: Please tell me we don't have to shoot at it to make it disappear.

Winston: I mean you only have to shoot at it until it's structural integrity is at 40%--

Mercy: WINSTON, WE'RE NOT SHOOTING AT TODDLERS.

Winston: You're not shooting at the toddlers, you're shooting at the bubble--

Seye rizz: Works on virtually everyone BUT Marti yet somehow she's still in love with him. This is confusing and infuriating for both of them.

Aedan rizz: His cringefail ways and victorian ghost child lost in the grocery store vibes have captivated me.

Marti rizz: works on only a select few but they become just straight-up obsessed with her and she's just like, "Yikes."

Jaime rizz: works up until the point where he asks you for your social security number.

Aedan: She's really brilliant, is the thing. I mean, not that the rest of the watchpoint isn't... sparkling company---

Rajeev: You watched me eat a raw scoop of protein powder on a dare yesterday.

Aedan: It's just, for all her experiences, for all her humility in the face of that, she has this incredible intelligence and will. I doubt she would have survived that time without it, but I really wish she was more aware of it. I really wish she could see it like the rest of us do.

Rajeev: I mean, I think Rei's the same way. She's always trying to do more, it's like she doesn't even know how much she does for everyone already, you know? And it's always 'no big deal' with her even though she's going well out of her way for it. And she knows what she's about, too. It's not like a 'please like me' thing, it's like... 'this is home, this is how home works.'

Aedan: *pause* ...Do you ever worry about how things would be if everything was suddenly normal?

Rajeev: What do you mean?

Aedan: If we weren't scared for our lives all the time, running off on missions all the time, scared we're going to lose each other all the time.... that sort of thing.

Rajeev: Hm... I would've liked to play college basketball.

Aedan: College basketball.

Rajeev: Don't really know how that would work but there are exchange programs. And I'm tall.

Aedan: That's it? You don't worry if your kindness comes from a core of trauma? Or fear? Or guilt?

Rajeev: ...I think we should just count ourselves lucky that we're around people who care that much. Who make us care.

Rei: I'm glad things eased up between you and Aedan.

Akasha: Me too. I missed our cooking lessons.

Rei: He's giving you cooking lessons?

Akasha: Everything I ate with Vishkar was... this really bland hypoallergenic stuff. Everything perfectly plotted out for macronutrients and efficient digestion, but nothing too spicy or sweet or acidic because everyone was eating the same thing. I didn't really realize how boring it all was it until I was adrift in time, but even then, the food during that time was... very hit or miss. It mostly started out because I needed to work in the kitchen like everyone else, but he noticed I would keep... nibbling at things...and he's been giving me lessons since.

Rei: How's that going?

Akasha: I'm learning a lot! He's really patient, but he gets so excited. It's sweet. I feel like he really could have been a really good teacher if it weren't for... all this. I also think it's good to give Rajeev a break from always worrying about me, too.

Rei: Rajeev cares about everyone. That's... part of his deal. *snort* It is sweet to see him running around the watchpoint checking in with everyone and trying to help out, though.

Akasha: Did he check in with you?

Rei: He helped me clean out my room. I'd been putting it off a while because I was so worried about having to choose between all of my stuff in boxes from LA and all my childhood sentimental stuff, but he was happy to spend all day helping me sort through all that stuff, and run boxes down to storage, or toss them in the truck to be donated...And he was asking all these questions about LA... it was nice to catch up. I think it's so easy to be caught up in, y'know, getting things done around here, that it's easy to just... brush over that kind of stuff. But he really cares.

Akasha: *smile*

Zarya: I noticed someone has been getting into my protein powder. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you, ptichka?

Rei: mmm... nope! Nope. Don't know anything about that.

Zarya: Of course. And I'm sure it is a coincidence that the break-ins always seem to happen right after your training sessions with Hanzo?

Rei: Oh come on, you basically have a silo of the stuff! You can spare a scoop!

Zarya: I can, but ninja or not, you have to ask.

Tracer: I'm glad to see Morrison taking someone new under his wing. He hasn't done something like that in ages! I think it's good for him.

Marti: Who.. was the last person he did it for?

Tracer: Me! Hopefully he won't let you think he's dead for five years!

Marti: ...you guys are never going to let him live that down, are you?

Tracer: Definitely not.

Aedan: Professor, are we still meeting tomorrow? I had some questions about the texts you recommended.

Sigma: Oh--Oh dear. I'm afraid we'll have to reschedule, Aedan. It would seem Mr. Ogundimu has need of my skills with some thorny issue abroad. He was sparse on the details, but I shall help in any way I can.

Aedan: Oh--Well... be careful out there.

Sigma: *chuckle* Don't worry about me, dear boy. Just give those readings another look, I'm sure you'll have it figured out by the time I get back.

Jaime: I'm still going to go back for the others. I have to. I don't really know how, yet, but someday.
