Sasuke carefully cradled the tiny whimpering kitten to his chest offering as much warmth as his small frame could allow smiling softly as the little one purred weakly. The litter had been dropped off at their doorstep a few days ago. It felt like he was more normal then not now a days. Although it was not the cause with this tiny one. He found people seemed to get animals and think they can care for them, find out it is “too much work” and dump them somewhere. Or worse.
“Good girl, there you go.” He cooed watching as she swallowed the formula he had prepared. He grinned as she stretched out a paw flicking the strands of his hair that had become untied from the elastic back. Sasuke had grown his hair out in order to pay his respects to his dead family who also had longer hair. His adoptive father also had longer hair. “Bed time, okay?” He chuckled softly kissing the little paw as she mewed in protest. She didn’t like being separated from her brothers and sisters. But she was sick and they couldn’t risk the others getting the illness too. They had already lost two. “I know, baby girl, I know.” He soothed gently detaching her claws from his shirt and placed her in her small bed and carefully closed the door.
He barely blinked when his corn snake poked her head from the collar of his shirt. She was happily curled around his arm or his waist. When he agreed to work at the vet his condition had been his snake had to come, she was his anchor, she helped soothed him from panicking. He laughed as her tongue brushed his cheek, her version of kisses.
“Did I wake you? Sorry.” He hummed leaning his cheek against her tiny head. She slithered farther up to settle around his neck probably curious at the newcomers under the office’s care. He made his way to the sink moving past the other members of the staff, they were heading out it appeared, but he still had some paperwork to fill out so he would be a little while. Washing his hands and savoring the warmth of the water for as long as he could. He dried his now red hands off and walked into the filing room. He picked up his stack of paperwork and a pen before going back to the waiting room. It was comfortable there, he liked the arm chair in the corner of the room. Turning on the light next to it he curled up in the seat and silently get to work filling out the forms he hadn’t gotten to finish earlier in the day.
