art^2 appreciation post
hi gang. i am writing away etc etc but THIS ISNT ABOUT ME. ITS NOT, OKAY?? this is about an INCREDIBLY TALENTED individual that i think we should all give some love to today.
everybody in this fandom probably already knows the amazingly talented @art-the-f-up. his artwork is so wonderful and truly foundational; his style is incredibly distinctive and beautiful.
(prefacing this by saying i don't know jack diddly squat about art or any like. visual mediums. i can't art for anything. i can, however, appreciate good art when i see it, and GOD if this doesn't fall into that category. SO)
i've said it before but i'll say it again, his style is so sony/animation, i could 100% see it in the next spiderverse/kpdh/other project because it is just so smooth and like warm and welcoming? someone the other day was like ohhh it's so bouba and that is incredibly true. somehow the style gives warm/round/full/soft and i don't know how else to describe it but that's. that's what it does. the usage of light/shadow (especially visible in art's most recent post!). the vibrancy of colour and contrast. the way it feels, like, cartoon-style, even whilst being so incredibly detailed and the shading being done in a way that feels so realistic.
art's rumi&celine art makes me ESPECIALLY ill. i mean, all of his stuff is great (not just kpdh!! he also makes stuff for other fandoms!!!!), i love his huntr/x pieces where they get to be silly and love-y and sweet and sometimes terribly angsty, but his rumi&celine art.... gutwrenching. formative. that unspoken tension... the distance even while physically close. no closure is ridiculous. it feels like it comes straight out of the movie. the dialogue... the expressions... the tasteful, graceful handling of such a difficult, convoluted topic... it speaks to an impossible amount of thought and talent. it's one of my absolute favourites from him and for good reason. (and then you also have the hilarious mummification process, which makes me actually lose it every time. look at celine's face. LOOK AT IT)
probably my favourite work he's done is the one he captioned "Every time the anomaly cried, the Honmoon cried with her." god. just look at it. rumi crying throughout the years - shame and pain and guilt and misery, and then finally, finally letting herself do so in zoemira's arms, patterns on display. god. FUCK. what the hell. every time the anomaly cried and art made art of it i did too. that's the alternate title. and it's so believably done. you're telling me baby rumi didn't try to cover her patterns up with messy scribbles of highlighter? didn't cry silently alone as an adolescent, wrapped in bandaging? false. you're wrong.
i've linked a few of my favourites above, but there is more, and by god it is amazing. please go check out all of his work. truly he's insane. absolutely wonderful. he for WHATEVER reason made fanart of my silly precanon fic and i think i blacked out for a couple minutes when i saw it. physically ill whenever i think about it. he's unbelievable. guys i'm running out of words but i will NEVER run out of feelings about it. SONY HIRE HIM. PLEASE. EVERYONE GO CHECK HIM OUT AND LIKE ALL HIS POSTS AND SEND HIM MESSAGES ABOUT HOW TALENTED HE IS AND COMMISSION HIM IF YOU CAN. HE DESERVES IT.
and of course it doesn't help that in addition to being stupidly talented he's also an amazing person who is smart and funny and ceaselessly kind. someone i am soo excited and honoured to call a friend (even when i still tremble at the thought of speaking to The art-the-f-up like wdym that's The art-the-f-up). all-around wonderful. go check him out guys (get fucked shay)
