i’m deeply partial toward the raimi spider-man movies, given they were my introduction to superhero media (beyond the powerpuff girls.) they definitely aren’t perfect, but i love the heart and soul they have, so i always aim to reference that with my take on peter.
like tobey’s peter, he can produce his own webbing, directly from his wrists. it just makes sense to me, because that’s likely the top thing you associate with spiders, aside from their legs.
however, because it’s equally important to me to keep him humble in his roots — a la, friendly neighborhood etc. — and show that he’s self made and not a billionaire, peter created web shooters to go over his wrists, allowing for room for his own webbing to come through, but providing himself with a durable backup should he be ill, weakened physically, or such is the case in renew your vows, to let someone to tap into his powers.
