So, I was in hiatus from Discord server when I made this. I already expressed interest in doing an event because I missed the secret Santa the previous year (I was there for the first ever Christmas Santa, however it isn't an animatic so it's not posted and it's going to take a looongggg while for me to collate EVERY fanart I've ever done for TEK, I've made A LOT over the years) So they actually emailed me!! For the event and I also, essentially gave my progress reports over email as well instead of Direct Messages/DMs.

But this took 2 weeks because I am, a dumbass and a coward. I wanted to do a full animatic, but I didn't know if I could make it, y'know? Because I was also going out for a whole week, so that's like. 3 weeks. So I first made, a backup illustration and sent that as my first progress report. However, the real reason was that it had to be colored and I didn't know if, I could actually do a colored animatic (I haven't done it before).

I asked if I could do an animatic (after asking other people about their thoughts) and I was given the go-signal! Mind that I already did the storyboards and asked if the audio was okay to begin with LOL Taken from the email:

Hmm..the effort that goes into making an animatic sounds like a lot, and at least to me, the work without coloring should meet the requirements for the gift! You've put lots of time and thought into this already, and I know you're dedicated to making your work the best it can be.

(TLDR: The animatic gift without coloring sounds great, thumbs up! Your audio should also be alright too.)

And so begins, trudging towards to completion of this animatic! It took several, sleepless nights accompanied by the resident Japanese fan of TEK, and fueled with motivation by another friend (who also, made an animatic that's colored BROO)

I lost my sanity (to be expected from animation) and a hard drive (I salvaged it, but yeahhh) and I also, almost lost all my progress for Waron's helmet (actually, felt my soul leave my body...) This took like, 3 hours to export (10 times ack), and bro, I was almost the last one to submit in time HAHAHA

But people really liked this!! I'm glad people appreciated the effort this took and liked the idea~ The tree asked for a fun gift, I hoped this was fun!! The original message had like, a personal note, which I won't add here

Reasons why it took so long:

Clean Lineart

I added roughly 60-70 frames because I animated actually some parts

Waron's helmet

the file got so large my art program was genuinely lagging and crashing on me

Shoulder and back pain, also no sleep

Good things I learned:

Shorthand for Waron's helmet (Freehanding her helmet, is a bonus)

Layer organization for animation

Camera feature in CSP

Some fun details!

I accounted for the fact the audio specified it's a dream! So that's why Darang had extra detail with her, especially her hands~ And also, besides that I somewhat gave up near the end the detail lessened near the end, signaling the dream is about to end! There's also a bunch of discrepancies throughout the animatic, doubling down it was a dream

Waron's helmet is the only reason why this took so long, besides the clean lineart
