All right. This was a vast success on Ad Astra, and I do believe it will be a vast success out here, too. The whole idea is to rewards both readers and writers!
Here's how it works. You review a story from one of the aforementioned fandoms, then post the link in the appropriate thread on the forum (stories from Ao3, Dreamwidth, LJ or fanfiction.net). I add up the word count and that's your base score! So, if you write a twenty word review, you have twenty points to start (quoting the story doesn't count, though, only your own words)! Then comes the interesting part -- the modifiers. The first modifier is your word score; this encourages longer, more in-depth reviews. That scoring goes like this:
1-25 words - 0 bonus
26-50 words - 10 bonus
51-100 words - 20 bonus
101-150 words - 50 bonus
151-200 - 75 bonus
201-300 - 100 bonus
301-400 - 150 bonus
401-500 - 200 bonus
501+ - 300 bonus
For multichapter stories, each individual review counts as one review.
Just to make the game more interesting, here are a couple more modifiers, to try to get some unreviewed, gen or rare-pairs more love:
For each unreviewed story (on any of the services listed), you get an additional 25 points for being the first reviewer on that platform.
For each gen story, you get an additional 25 bonus for your first review.
For each rare pair (less than 100 fanworks on Ao3, regardless of service), you get an additional 25 bonus.
Now, what do you win? Well, if you come out at the end of the month with the highest score, I'll give you a $15 Amazon card; if you come in as one of two runners up, I'll give you $5. So, over all, $25 up for grabs from Amazon! (Or, if you'd rather, I'd do some art for you.) Been wanting that pair of earbuds? Here's a way to get 'em.
This wins for everyone; readers get to be rewarded for reading, and writers get desperately needed and wanted feedback. This review hunt goes from now to the end of February! You can post multiple review links in a single reply to this thread. Every single new review you write for these fandoms counts, too. So, let's see what happens. XD
