I am ALMOST done with the Edna St. Vincent Millay biography and today I am seeing the most inticing intersections.
#bisexualfacts - I keep wanting to say that she was openly bisexual and at the height of her prime, she was easily the most famous woman in America. Like Oprah with poetry. But that's not how bisexualfacts works, so I need another trending hashtag for this tidbit.
And I should also add that this isn't serial bisexuality we're talking about.
I, being born a woman and distressed
By all the needs and notions of my kind, Am urged by your propinquity to find Your person fair, and feel a certain zest To bear your body's weight upon my breast: So subtly is the fume of life designed, To clarify the pulse and cloud the mind, And leave me once again undone, possessed. Think not for this, however, the poor treason Of my stout blood against my staggering brain, I shall remember you with love, or season My scorn wtih pity, -- let me make it plain: I find this frenzy insufficient reason For conversation when we meet again.

Millay mourned the Czechoslovak city of Lidice, the site of a Nazi massacre:
The whole world holds in its arms today The murdered village of Lidice, Like the murdered body of a little child.
