Fami-Mode 2014: Sexy-Synthesizer, YMCK, Omodaka, more ⊟
Siiiiiigh. I'm jealous of the people who get to attend the Fami-Mode concert/event in Tokyo every year, and I've never been more envious than I am of the 2014 event.
Performing chiptune musicians include Omodaka, Kplecraft, Sexy-Synthesizer, YMCK (!!!!) and Clachip, who I will now be looking into. Companies like Takara Tomy ARTS and Editmode will also be displaying wares.
As always, the poster art is very cool.
BUY Nintendo 2DS & 3DS/XL, upcoming games, our holiday gift guide
Our evening was spent at Pico Pico Cafe in Kichijoji for a special Fami-mode gathering. Delicious japanese wine was had along with an assortment of entrees. The night ended with a game tournament with KLAX and other games i have yet to identify. We met a lot of really talented artists, such as Omodaka and the lovely vocalist from Sexy Synthesizer. Fun was had by all~
Nubuwo Winter Bundle offers Fami-mode music for Fami-mode DVD
This is truly exciting stuff for chiptune/game music fans! The Nubuwo Winter Bundle is a Kickstarter drive offering several different chiptune album packs for backers. Most relevant for TC readers is the Fami Pack, with Doctor Octoroc's fantastic 8-Bit Jesus (a holiday staple!), Mega Ran Fifth Anniversary Edition, Killed by Koopa Stage One, and ... Fami-Mode 2012 Live Recordings!
That last one features live performances by Prof. Sakamoto, Sexy-Synthesizer, Omodaka, and Kplecraft, recorded at the Fami-Mode concert put on last year by Meteor.
In addition to raising money for the artists who contributed music to the bundle, the Kickstarter is raising funds for a DVD of Fami-Mode 2012 performances, filmed by Jeriaska and overseen by Meteor. I fully intend to make it to Fami-Mode one year, but in the meantime I need this DVD to happen.
HEAR ALSO More chiptunes
Sexy-Synthesizer and Chihiro performing at Fami-Mode 2012 (with M7kenji handling the visuals) several weeks ago. Oh, Sexy-Synthesizer, I love your crazy hair and smile.
This clip was posted by Jeriaska, who's giving out a huge collection of video game music right now to raise money for his Kickstarter project. The campaign ends in just a few hours, so get in there quick to grab those tracks.

Fami-mode 2011 t-shirt, designed by Tokyo Bitch. It's bad enough that we all have to miss the chiptune event in Tokyo this month, and now this super classy, traditional Japanese design-slash-Famicom shirt is out there not being bought by me.
As far as I know, the only way to get one of these will be to attend the show. I guess it's possible extra stock will end up in Japanese video game culture shop Meteor, but that has kind of the same "being in Tokyo" problem.

Fami-mōde 2011 poster, including a rad Famicom made of wood.
Fami-mōde is a famicom/8-bit live music event that takes place in Tokyo at the beginning of the year organized by Satoshi Sakagami, owner of Meteor shop and the mind behind Famicase exhibition.
