Hello there @fallofrainblog​! I stupidly set myself up for this ask, didn’t I? xD

I suppose I misspoke when I said “chapter.” Really it’s just a passage, not the entire chapter, but I was afraid if I went back and edited the tag Tubmlr would realize it let that naughty uncensored cherry slip by and slap that ugly orange flag on me. Anyway lol

The other scene I didn’t like was in [SPOILERS AHEAD] Chapter 49 of The Fiery Cross where Jamie goes to Claire’s in the night while they’re at River Run. He’d previously asked for Claire’s rings to use as stake in some gambling game, which lead to them arguing. In this scene he returns them to her. Basically he takes her up against a wall outside in a barn while drunk, which is all fine. There’s no dubious consent here. But the part that really turns me off this scene is when Jamie forces Claire’s head down so she has to look at him taking her. 

t’s funny that both this scene and the one from the first book have to do with Claire’s ring(s), but I think I what I most don’t like is the fact that Jamie feels Claire owes him something when she frustrates him and he takes it out physically on her. But I suppose that’s my unpopular opinion: JAMMF can be a “man” without being physically overpowering. I saw so many comments in this past season that said otherwise -- especially in regard to the Longhouse scene in 4x11 -- and that kind of thinking seems an awful lot like toxic masculinity to me. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with rough sex or possessiveness. But this always had the wrong hint of “do as I say or I’ll hurt you” to me. 

I’ll take the show’s adaption of The Reckoning over that any day 🙌🔥

It makes me cry EVERY TIME. There are a couple of other things I can’t watch again either: The flashbacks to Jamie being tortured in the s1 finale, the flashbacks of Claire losing Faith, and Claire falling down in the street after she goes back through the stones. I CANNA DO IT AND I WON’T.

🔭 what’s your go-to topic to learn about when you’re bored?

Normally it’s history! Biographical or cultural history rather than big picture stuff; I like stories, and I like seeing all the little stories that sometimes fall through the cracks of history. I like seeing how people are still people, ridiculous and wonderful, no matter the time they’re from.

Right now though, I’m spending a lot of time on duolingo learning Gàidhlig! Because why not. It’s been really cool to see words I recognize from the books/show pop up on there.

🕯 do you have any self care activities you do routinely?

Before we were in lock down mode, I would go out to a coffee shop fairly regularly! I live with my family, and while I love them, they are... a lot. So a few hours of time by myself was always a relief.

🦜what would your dream pet be if you had unlimited time, money, resources, etc.? (it could be exotic or extinct)

A red panda! I know they’re wild animals and not pets AT ALL, but they look like a stuffed animal! They look like a fox and a panda had a baby and they look perfect for cuddles.

hmmmm maybe squash? There’s more because I know I was pretty picky as a kid, but I can’t think of any atm. 

fireside - if you had your dream wardrobe, what would it look like?

Cozy! Also more colors and patterns than I have now probably. Lots of scarves. Like... Imagine how a librarian dresses. That’s probably it. I wouldn’t have thought I would miss wearing a lot of colors, but I can’t wear bright colors or any patterns at work, so I wear them when I’m at home in rebellion. 

quilt - how do you take your tea (or coffee)?

Tea: It depends on the type of tea, but typically a bit of milk and honey. 

Coffee: A good bit of half and half and a little sugar.

Something simple. Living by myself, in a wee apartment or house, with a more reliable income. A porch or deck where I can grow a few things. Maybe a pet, maybe not. Having a stronger community, with friends closer by.

ooooo that’s tricky. Maybe a sloth? Or a cat. Cats seem to be able to do whatever the fuck they want, no questions asked. I like that. 

Lavender: What’s your favorite thing about yourself?

Hmm, physically? I like my hair (most days) and my eyes. Personality wise? I like that I like to encourage people.

I rotate between my black and grey flats for work a lot. 

48. if you were a fruit, what kind would you be?

The first fruit that came to mind was a pineapple, but I have no idea why, I’m sorry 😂

53.what is the current state of your hands?

The right one is currently living in a brace when I am not actively interpreting. I’ve had issues with that wrist for a long time, but the last few months it’s been more iffy; I think I got in some bad signing habits that are putting extra unneeded strain on my wrists. And other than that they’re pretty ok, though I need to trim my nails.
