[ An au, a pairing and three sentences ]
The joke that Castiel made hadn’t been that funny and was more of a pun than anything but that didn’t stop Balthazar from laughing hard, fondness for the other showing in his eyes instead of through a smile. It was still a new thing, seeing some react so positively to him but it was a good thing, something that made him remember how relationships were supposed to be, not the way he’d spent the last few months. Cas would never know how Balthazar always managed to change the subject perfectly when his thoughts would dwell on the past and the things that had come before but he was grateful for it; for once, he could start putting the past behind him with a hopeful look to the future.
