I have been put down for my intelligence for as long as I could remember. My early schooling, I was overshadowed by my hospital-prone brother and didn’t receive the extra support needed, so I fell behind; I spent years trying to get back on track. Eventually, I became one of the best writers of my grade, after basically teaching myself how to read, write and spell. We then moved country and I was behind again, curriculums differed and socially I was behind. My knowledge on the STEM subjects fell behind and all my knowledge on the humanities were from the wrong place, again I ran to play catch up. I’m aware I could be doing better academically, but I’ve done my part to improve myself within a school setting, I am smart. I am smart and nothing will change that because I am persistent. They will not doubt my ability to learn and do, never again. I will do more than the rest, I will do it better, I will do it to the fullest, I will go further, I will be great. Nothing less.
