🇫🇰Falklands Day 2025🇫🇰
Today marks Falklands Day, commemorating the first recorded sighting of the Falkland Islands by the English navigator John Davis on 14 August 1592. Sailing aboard the Desire, Davis charted these remote islands in the South Atlantic, adding a vital chapter to Britain’s long maritime history.
The Falkland Islands hold a unique place in British heritage a symbol of exploration, resilience, and the enduring connection between the Islands and the United Kingdom. From their discovery to their modern-day community, the Falklands stand as a reminder of our proud seafaring past and our commitment to those who call them home.
On this day, I honour the spirit of discovery and the enduring ties that bind Britain to the Falklands.
