The Social Media Experiment
India is now considering/implementing a ban on social media sites like FB and Twitter. It’s difficult to fathom the fact that our country has become so fragile that one sms, one post or one tweet can cause a mass exodus leading to the Government banning the sites themselves instead of the pages. I fail to understand how banning a site is the solution to any of this. If you do want a solution, ban the idiots who cause these riots so that people may atleast feel safe enough to meander into other states/cities. Our constitution gives every Indian Citizen the right to settle down and conduct business in any city of india. Despite being a “Democracy” we have everything but democracy. Think about it and you will realize how much bullshit you’re being fed everyday with all the lies and deceit. Banning is not the solution to this. This won’t help anybody. Apparently the government wants to ban the parody accounts of the PMO because “They are spreading misinformation in the name of the PM”. My question, why would anyone go to a social networking site to find out what the PM thinks if he doesn’t say shit in the real world?! This makes no sense. It’s dumb shit. The only way to stop the spread of misinformation is to spread the right information. And this should be done by the right competent authority. Are we putting our trust in the right people to handle stuff like this? Don’t think so. Do we have the people to handle stuff like this? Fuck yea. It’s not 1947 people. It’s 2012. Grow a pair of balls and speak the truth. Peace Out.
