          eyes were trained forward as his mind raced from where he sat. the events over the last couple of months had been nothing short of HELL. he had dragged his family through the mud, including his nephew beside him,  &  he MERCILESSLY used impressionable students to spread his influence like the plague. while it was true ashley managed to successfully neutralize the machinery in his head, sam could still feel the occasional SHOCK as it tried to overcome the forced shutdown. fingers curled into the blanket he held around his shoulders, the well - being of his family pushing past every grievance settled in his mind. jared would come first in that check - up, for he knew damn well his elder siblings could handle themselves, but a teenager ?  he wasn’t so sure.  ❛  if you close your eyes, does it almost feel like nothing changed at all ?  ❜

                    paultin, without hesitation, transports himself into the room of his younger friend. he had become so numb to hiding his abilities to his friends that nearly all those who knew him knew he had powers. jared was no exception to this. he positioned himself to lean against the wall of his friend’s room, crossing his arms & laying one leg atop the other. ❛  hey, i need your help with something. ❜

“Aww! That was such a cute ending!”

Happy endings were Sakra’s guilty pleasures--she would always go for the bittersweet ending when writing, but sweet endings such as that after so much strife? She was certainly not going to complain. She sat on her bed and giggled a bit as the main menu theme played in her earbuds, taking in a moment to process what she had seen. She had just finished another route--Jared, a character who seemed surprisingly real. No matter what she said, he had such specific responses. Some developers really do think of everything. She could always respect good writing like that.

“Alright, alright, should start another route here... Wonder who this time...”

Click. ‘New Game’ didn’t work. Maybe she mis-clicked, her touchpad sometimes didn’t want to work properly.

Clickclickclick. Nothing.

“Th’ fuck...? I swear to god if the fucking game crashed again...!”

... Now wasn’t that weird.

The game was supposed to be over. They would go on about their lives as though none of the awful things had ever happened, as though the game was still running even after being deleted. Everything scripted, everything as it should, perhaps with a little leniency for lines to change.

This boy was acting outside of the script. But nothing was breaking, nothing was going wrong.

“Excuse me.” They shouldn’t have met like this. They shouldn’t have met at all. “Who... are you?”
