Latest video was filmed while I was drunk. Forgive me!
I'm chillin at home like I ain't got shit to do, when I really have a lot to do...
But doing things sucks ðŸ˜
Failure Friday returns with the story of the time I set my head on fire!
Not sure if it's a failure on my part, but certainly on the part of my entire Junior Secondary school.

I almost forgot Failure Friday, the new #ff!!
Thanks to Alif for reminding me, and thanks to Isomorphismes for coming up with the idea for a more interesting #ff tag!
So, the idea of failure friday isn't to make people feel bad about themselves, by having to go over their failures, but hopefully to make people feel BETTER about their failures, by seeing that everyone fails constantly. And failure shouldn't be something you hide or feel guilty about. It's useful and beneficial and should be shared right along with our successes! (Should we do a Success Saturday? I dunno. I'll think about it).
Anyway.Â
This is the first time i've done this...so i've got a lot of time to cover. I guess after this it will just be failures for the week. So. How I fail at life:
- I failed to exercise today. Again. And yesterday. And most days for the last month. Except like 2.
- I failed to keep my academics in grad school high enough to keep my financial aid. I got a C in classical mechanics, which lost me my TA-ship. This failure was only brought on by other failures. Like you know...failure to study. Failure to do my homework. Oops.
- I failed to get a certain job in Washington DC that I tried for.Â
- As of right now, my book Crystallized has been rejected by 43 literary agents (some of them twice), so I have failed to yet have anything traditionally published.Â
- Also, I've started on some short story projects that I hope to get published in anthologies over the summer...except I've failed to start them yet. Oops, again.
- I fail at singing. Literally I've been trying to learn to sing for 22 years. It's my favorite thing to do in the whole world, and I still fail at it.
- I actually fail at everything artistic, except writing. And I argue it is a different type of "artistic" than most fine arts. Well, and let's face it, so far I've failed at it too, given the rejection bullet above!Â
- I recently failed at driving, which was a particularly hard one for me since I'm usually a fantastic driver. But I had a wreck, and it was totally my fault. Fail.
- I fail to keep in touch with people that I really do love and care about. I fail at this constantly...sorry guys :-/
- When I got medically discharged from the military, I failed to fight my hardest to stay in when there were some high ranking officers ready to back me up.
- My research during my last year at West Point, I totally failed to do my fair share. My partner took on most of it.Â
- I failed to stay in shape after leaving the military. And failed miserably.Â
- I failed one of my students when I was corps commander of the JROTC unit in high school. I'd been helping him, but when I graduated I lost touch...and he ended up running away and dropping out.Â
- I fail to eat healthy
- I often fail to be compassionate
- I fail to deal appropriately with emotions, either in myself or from someone else, and instead revert to calculation and reason, which can hurt feelings.
- I often fail to be honest
- Other times I am more honest than I should be
- I sometimes fail to keep my mind busy, or keep a positive perspective, which can allow my mind to wander down relatively disturbing paths and cause lapses in motivation, sociability, and occasionally, sanity :)
- I fail to read as much as I would like to
- I fail to write as much as I would like to
- I fail to use my time efficiently
- I fail to understand things I would like to understand, to be as smart as I would like to be, and to remember things I would like to remember.
You know, it's funny, the more of these I type, the more I think of, and the list just keeps getting longer and longer. But you know what? It's not depressing. It's making me realize just how many things I've aspired (or do aspire) to do. And that's a good thing, regardless of outcome.Â
Things I Failed
I'm bored of `#ff` meaning follow Fridays. Let's do Failure Friday instead and talk about things we'e failed at. * I failed an arithmetic test. * I failed judo class. * I failed to attract interest with my CV. * I failed to be married or have a stable job by my 30th birthday. * I failed an entrance exam. * I failed most of my writing assignments. * I lost an important contest. * I lost a race. Badly. * I lost a client I thought I had secured. * I failed a client I thought I could help. * I failed to get paid what I thought I was worth. * I failed to be honest in a romantic relationship. * I failed to do anything cool for a few years. * I couldn't walk on a mountain because I was so out of shape. * I failed to wear sunscreen. * I failed to read the prospectus. * I failed to get into my preferred university. * I failed to get someone to fall for me. * I didn't know what I wanted or how to get it. * I failed to keep in touch with old friends. * I failed to impress people. * I failed to advocate for myself. * I failed to do things on time. * I lost Other People's Money. * I failed to come up with good ideas. * I failed to give it my all. * I failed to lose weight. * I failed to meet expectations. * I failed to look "put together". * I failed to stay organised. * I failed to Get Things Done. * I failed to cook a good dinner. * I failed to recognise the obvious signs. * I failed to learn what I was trying to learn. * Things did not go according to plan. **NB:** I don't intend Failure Friday as a pity party. It just bugs me when people try to act flawless and successful. Infinitely wise with inerrant self-command. Even apparent failures are successes in disguise. Sorry stories modulate into major key as the lessons learned were invaluable rungs on the ladder of upward progress so in the end it all worked out for the best. What is that? You'll probably just make people who are already down feel worse by doing that. And not make anyone feel better.
