The Dante Inverse Faiku
A rebel movement against the faiku form arose in the early 13th century. In the writings of Dante, it was found that Dante was doing an inverted tercet as a variation on the oriental faikus. Apparently, a friend of Marco Polo brought some Asho to Dante and it inspired his Divine Comedy, particularly the Inferno portion. Rather than climb Mt. Fuji, Dante inverted the form and shortened it to three lines representing the souls descent into hell. It is a faiku, just shorter and backwards.

When Dante was asked why his Inferno was in the more traditional tercet, rather than the inverse faiku he invented, Dante grew disgusted and yelled, "Read between the fucking lines."
