The day I had to telephone mountain rescue for directions on how to get out of the mountain ⛰ !!!! As our summer holidays brought us on mount Olympos, I was desperate to run on its trails. I was given advice from our hotel on where to go so I headed out for an easy 14km circular run on the path of one of the trail runs that take place on the mountain. At the start, signposting was great, but I soon got lost at a 4-road junction. I was brought back to the right trail on the track of a kind farmer 👩🌾 that gave me some instructions on where to go. I soon entered a proper trail path, scared away a couple of cows 🐄, and started shitting myself as this was a proper little narrow mountain path, with possibly snakes? I have to say that I scarcely got phone reception along the way. I managed to get out of the path and on to some bigger trails, which unfortunately was where signposting was absent again. My husband that was following me on Garmin live track texted me that I was heading the wrong way. So I turned back to where 3 paths started, all of which seemed to be taking me away from the village I started from (according to garmin take me to the start function). With just 20% battery, sunset approaching fast, my husband saying he couldn’t get to me, I thought this was it. Luckily I spotted I sign with the mountain rescue telephone number, which I called before my phone died. The nice person on the other end of the line directed me the right way and in about 4km I was in our car. My husband started jumping up and down as he saw me in my little pink top coming out of the woods. That was a true adventure and one to last me for a while. Next day I just sat by the pool. #olymposmountain #faethonmountaintrail #mountainrunning #trailrunning #trailrun #mountaintrailrun #holidayadventures #runolympos #rungreece #aclaphamrunneringreece (at Κοκκινοπηλός Ολύμπου) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnLxPVcAC6K/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ofwstqhboubl
