In Scotland, a 𝕶𝖊𝖑𝖕𝖎𝖊 is a shape-shifting spirit which inhabits lochs across the continent. It is usually described as a black horse-like creature, though it is able to adopt a human form. There are some who state that the kelpie retains its hooves when appearing as a human.

The faeries have always been one of the downsides of living in Belfast, Maine. Their boredom usually results in broken car windows, stolen bikes, and the occasional missing persons reports. Yet, they've been here for as long as anyone can remember. So long as you follow The Rules, you should be safe. But something has changed: since the Summer Solstice, infants and young children have started to go missing. Families are waking up each morning to an empty crib and a note scratched into sheets of tree bark: "Return the Heir by Samhain, or your child will remain in Faerie forever." Charlene Harris - or Charlie, as she prefers, is new in town. Wanting nothing to do with the fey, she is forced into action when her one-year-old half-sister is the next one taken. Now Charlie and her band of misfit friends must figure out who - or what this "heir" is and deliver them to the Queen of the faeries - before it's too late.

All I can recall is that a fae and her human lover went to the fairy realm to have them wed and be together for eternity

Turns out the fae is a princess and she has a sister who greatly despises humans.

Everyone else in the fae court, including the Queen, are kinda eh yea go ahead be together, but the sister is like NO! She must complete trials to prove she is worthy to become one of us!

And the human is like, I GUESS. And she goes through these impossible trials that not even other Fae normally could go through.

Brian Frouds Faeries Tales by Brian and Windy Froud

This book is to aid my development for the fae and folklore section of my project I have yet to explore. Brian Froud is also an artist I plan to research more for my artist research as he is a very accomplished folklore artist in my opinion.

Neil Gaiman’s Coraline:

I remember reading this book as a child. so when I decided to explore coralline's story I recalled this book which I was able to get from an old library selling their copy. This book is very different from the movie and portrayed in a different way as well from my understanding. although this is the graphic novel version, there are a few different versions of his novel which inspired the film .

The Spiderwick Chronicles The Feild Guide:

This book like the first is to aid my folklore and creature area. Particularly looking at creatures from this novel series. I think it is a very beautiful book which lovely illustrations. when I was first researching folklore creatures I came across the phooka which is documented in this book. the phooka or pooka (púca is also linked to an old Irish legend. so I wanted to look into the other creatures to discover the story behind them.
